The author has not revealed her educational qualifications. Since the career options depend on the educational qualifications, it is not possible to offer any specific opinion. In general, there appears no problem in banking sector. However regarding the religious aspect of any career, I don't have any knowledge about the same. Justice M. Fathima Beevi was the first female judge to be appointed to the Supreme Court of India and the first Muslim woman to be appointed to any higher judiciary. Also presently there are 26 Muslim judges working in different high courts in India.

I must say that you are misinformed and incorrect on your perception about Muslims working in bank. What is the problem in working for banking sector if you are Muslim? There is no such issue and there are several Muslims working in bank in India, both male and female. In fact there is a bank by name Muslim cooperative bank limited. So let us first get it clear that your work is independent of which religion you belong to.
I will be more than happy to suggest you with some career options but you need to share the details of your graduation and what are you doing and how many years of work experience you have and so on.
If you are interested in studying LLB then you should study. There is nobody who can interfere with your academic freedom and preferences. It is not haram because ignorance is haram. You seeking knowledge or truth cannot be haram. Every human being has the right to learn, practice and enjoy anything that is good for mankind. Only problem is that we live in India with so many superstitions and unreasonable prejudices that stops human progress. We should be more intelligent and give away practices that are illogical and oblivious. Some of your friends, relatives or family member may be up against it but you have every right to pursue whatever is good for you. It is left to your courage to stand against the odds.

Ramseena, I do not know all about what is allowed in Islam what is not, but best to my knowledge a female is allowed to pursue any career in which you need not to show/use your beauty or physical appearance. It was believed that a Muslim women must do all transaction through her brother, husband or Father. If this practice is still followed at your home then you should avoid banking career if not then there is nothing wrong in banking career too.
Many Muslim women are doing excel in different sectors with preserving their culture so you can also achieve whatever you are desiring for just keep in mind the basic rule that profession like modelling, acting or receptionist are not considered good in some families. So you know your family good you can act accordingly.
As a woman I would strongly recommend to pursue a career, which makes a woman strong from heart and also allows a mind to develop in all dimensions. Best wishes to you for your career. May you get success in what ever you decide for yourself!

Many Muslims avoid working for the usual banks in India because the concept of collecting interest on money you have given someone as a loan is haraam according to Islam. According to Islam, the loan you give someone should always be interest free. This makes the banking sector of India to be considered as haraam since banks charge an interest on the loans they provide. However, the concept of banking started much after the Quran sharif and Hadiths were written, so one can interpret the functioning of banks to be haraam or halaal according to our own judgement. The original statements against collecting interest from borrowers was meant for individual loaners to prevent people from taking undue advantage of people who had borrow resources from others and not for corporations like banks as we have today.
However, to be honest, you can join any field as long as you are comfortable, you enjoy it and have an inclination towards it (and it is legal according to the laws of our country). Studying LLB is not haraam. So if you have an inclination towards law you can definitely go for it. If you have inclination for any other field like medicine, academics, business, science, management, marketing etc. etc. you should go for it. Just remember to enter a field that doesn't involve any cheating or falsehood. This truly goes for anyone, not just Muslim females.

Every career type is good for muslims. There is nothing like banking career not good for muslims. However based on the islamic principles, you should not work on the insurance and the mutual funds and forex. These three fields are not ass per the islamic principles. However many Islamic work in banks and loans companies. So there is nothing wrong with it.
I suggest choosing banking profession regardless of you are muslim or not. Because women are excelling in banking and finance sector. You have more benefits and perks in banking sector. Apart from that you can also try to get into the teaching or IT.
IT is completely different and you have to work harder in this field. So I suggest you to choose from - banking, MBA, IT or teaching profession. These are good for any girl be it muslim or not. Just stay away from mutual funds and forex as those two fields don't confirm to the islamic profession.

Kerala is one of the most literate state in India. It is a state where the overall gender equality and religious tolerance is well maintained. and is much better than in many other places. You are not going to be the first or second or even thousandth employed girl from your community. There are any number of women from your community in Kerala in politics, legal sector, medicine, banking, self employment, education and any normal sector of life and employment.
Women from Muslim community are there in almost all fields and sectors of life in Kerala. There is a certain percentage or quanta of reservation for Muslim candidates in various jobs and education courses under the state.
You may take up any normal career for which you are qualified and you have interest or liking. It is quite common to see more women in jobs like banking, teaching, govt offices and positions and jobs of public service, and many of them are excelling in their fields .
What I have given is the general suggestion. For your particular situation, if any, you may take suggestions of your parents and well wishers also.
