Spelling mistake in documents in graduation marksheet

Date: 11 May 2016   Posted By: kapil landge     Group: Lawyers    Category: Indian Law

My name in both SSC and HSC marksheet does not tally with the name mentioned in semester marksheets.
Now I am preparing for UPSC and State Service. Will I get rejected in the interview? Can you provide a solution for this problem?
Awaiting response.

It is better to get the name changes from the marksheet adjusted as soon as possible. The reason being though it can't be held as for the ground for rejection. However you'd be denied later part during the document verification part. So you need to make sure that you get the documents cleared before you appear for the final interview. Till then you have some time to get the name sorted. This is the only solution for this issues.

Perhaps unintentional spelling mistakes in the certificates alone cannot be made a criteria for rejection of a candidate. Generally the SSC certificate is taken as a base document for the purpose of name and date of birth. However the author has not made it clear in his query as to what is the status of correctness in the names in his certificates as he has mentioned only mark sheets. It depends on the extent of variation in the name also. Normally in such cases, submitting a sworn affidavit serves the purpose. My advice to the author is to take all his certificates and mark sheets to a lawyer and discuss the same in person. Depending upon the extent of variations in the name, the lawyer will be able to offer advice about requirement of the affidavit or not. However the author should not divert his attention from doing hard work for preparation of competitive examination/interview on this count.
