The author should consider completing AMIE due to many reasons e.g. AMIE can be completed through distance learning mode without leaving the present job and the continuing work experience will count toward completion of AMIE program. Further AMIE is recognised as equivalent to an engineering degree program. Completing B.Tech/B.E. through correspondence course is generally unheard of. It is not clear as to whether such courses are recognized by the Government or not. In any case , the author is advised to thoroughly inquire and ascertain, if the correspondence course, he intends to pursue as an option, is recognized or not. Even if the present employer is agreeable to accept the said course, it is advisable to pursue only a recognized course as the employer may have to be changed later at any stage.

According to me A.M.I.E. is best option. Diploma holders can earn Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers certificate. It is run under Institution of Engineers(India). It is divided into Section A and Section B. It is recognised by MHRD India and AICTE as a statutory council in India. It is equivalent to B.Tech and B.E degree. But AICTE approval does not apply for AMIE. But Board of Assessment, Ministry of Humans Resource Development, Government of India and The Association of Indian Universities approved equivalence of AMIE for employment and academic equivalence. After obtaining certification you can apply for M.Tech/M.E course through GATE exam. You also write Civil Service Aptitude Test and Indian Engineering Service exam for post of IAS officer, Assistant Engineer, Executive Engineer in government departments. According to Hon'ble High Court of Kerala AMIE passout is equivalent to degree in engineering for teaching assignment in engineering institution in Kerala state. AMIE is best option for you.

Since, you are working after acquiring your diploma course in Mechanical Engineering, yo can undertake AMIE qualification for your job - prospects. The advantages of taking up this qualification for higher studies are many fold. You need not discontinue your job in the wake of further technical - studies and in addition to it, the papers of both the sections A and B can be cleared at your convenience in the two sessions May and November. There are many coaching Institutes offering their expertise for helping the students to come out with success. This AMIE degree is fully recognised through the ministry of HRD and upon completion of the same, most of the companies Private or Public - sector otherwise accept its values.
Even in the event of your interest to persue for M.Tech, you can persue the same without any inconvenience.
