Who is the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and what are its role and functions? I have heard that DGCA conducts examinations also? Is it true? If yes, then what kind of examinations are conducted by the DGCA? Where is its office located in India?

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is an attached office under Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. The Headquarter of DGCA is near Safdarjung Airport,, New Delhi. The vision of DGCA is to promote safe and efficient air transportation through regulation and pro-active safety oversight system. This is not an University. DGCA has no relation with University Grants Commission (UGC). However, it gives certificates on various aircraft-related technical matters and courses on piloting.
Smt. M. Sathiyavathy is the present Director General of DGCA.
