    Generally we see NAAC accreditation displayed on the websites of various colleges/universities. What is the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and what it means by obtaining NAAC accreditation? Also what its various grading ratings like A++, A+, A etc. mean?

    NAAC or National Assessment and Accreditation Council- as the name itself makes clear is a body under University Grants Commission(UGC) , to assess and grade the higher education institutions as per their quality on various parameters. It assesses and accredits the various institutions or some specific academic programmes or projects. Institutions submit voluntarily for the assessment and accreditation for their own benefit and benefit oftheusers.
    Obtaining of NAAC accreditation by an institution means credible and reliable information for the parents and students.For the institution NAAC assessment gives opportunity to realistically asses the strengths and weakness and also planning for further improvement and modernisationand uppdation.
    The revised grading denoted by letters and plus signs are : A++,A+,A,B++,B+,B,C all denoting as Accredited and with range of CGPA scores 3.76-4.00 for A++, 3.51-3.75 for A+ , in that trend respectively upto 1.51 to 2.00 for C.
    D denotes Not Accredited and with a score of 1.50 or less.
    (The earlier gradings given from A to D denote from Very good to unsatisfactory are discontinued from July 2016)
