    Is regular degree of PG necessary to opt for lecturer or correspondence can work.

    Is it necessary to do any PG program regularly or will correspondence program do to opt for professor or lecturer post?
    If a bachelor degree holder wants to do PG by correspondence and after that want to go for NET, does it will work or not?

    On the website of the National Eligibility Test (NET) , under eligibility criteria, it is mentioned that the candidates should have secured at least 55% marks in master's degree or equivalent examination from an universities/institutions recognised by UGC. It has also been mentioned that the candidates should ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with master's degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The website address of the AIU is - However it is no where clarified if the degrees obtained through online or distance learning mode are eligible or not. In absence of any contradictory, information, it appears that the only requirement is the equivalency of the degree and not the mode of learning/studying. However it is better to obtain clarification regarding the subject matter directly from CBSE which organizes the National Eligibility Test (NET) -
