I have completed my HSC in Maharashtra Board this year (2016). I want to pursue a B.Sc in Psychology. I can hardly find any college providing this degree in Maharashtra. BA for Psychology is available in colleges whereas I am in search of a B.Sc degree. Kindly suggest colleges for the mentioned degree.

As per my knowledge, Mumbai University's affiliated colleges do not offer B.Sc. in Psychology, as I mentioned in a response to your query at my article on How to register online for Mumbai University degree colleges admissions. You will likely have to pursue the B.Sc. Psychology course in a State outside Maharashtra.

I cannot make out why you are so rigid that your ultimate degree after passing the same examination should be B.Sc ( Psycology). If your ultimate aim is to gain knowledge, you can persue the same from any recognised university, the duration of which is three year. Normally in B.A examination three papers are chosen and out of three papers, one is Psycology. After successful passing your B.A examination, you can proceed for the Post - graduation degree.
There are provisions for some diplomas such as Clinical - psycology, Criminal - psycology etc for gaining employment in Hospitals or in Police - department.
In case of recruitment - purpose, no Employer would ask you to produce a B.Sc degree in Psycology.

The information provided in the responses above by both Kailash Kumar and Pawan Kumar is incorrect. There are no colleges in Maharashtra offering a pure Psychology course in the science stream. I enquired with a very senior Psychology lecturer of a reputed college and her input is a follows:
  1. In many States, including Maharashtra, Psychology is not considered to be a Science stream but an Arts one. Hence, these States do not offer a B.Sc. degree in it, but a B.A. one. Even in reputed colleges in Delhi and Kolkata, you will not be able to acquire a B.Sc. Psychology degree.

  2. It is only in some places in South India, such as one or two colleges in Chennai, that you will be able to pursue a B.Sc. degree in the subject. Even there, though, you will need to check the subjects associated with it as you may need to have done Biology at the earlier academic level. Biology may also be one of the subjects of the curriculum for the B.Sc. Psychology degree (the lecturer I consulted was not 100% sure of this though). You can refer to our own site's courses section: B.Sc. Psychology. For example, the Ethiraj College for Women, offers a B.Sc. Psychology course.
    The address is:
70, Ethiraj Salai, Egmore, Thousand Lights, Chennai, Tamil Nadu-600008.
    Ph: +(91)-44-28279189 / +(91)-44-28287210.

  3. The one place in Maharashtra where you could pursue a Psychology-related B.Sc. degree, as informed by the lady whom I consulted, is at Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai. They have what is called T .Y.B.Sc. (Home Science), Brach II - Human Development degree program. The subjects covered in the curriculum for this program include Counseling and Psychological Testing and Social Psychology among other subjects.
