Recruitment to the posts of Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector of Income Tax etc. is made through the Combined Graduate Level Examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission.
Academic eligibility criteria for appearing in such examinations is a bachelor's degree from a recognized university or its equivalent.
Generally, the examination consists of the following three tiers -
Tier I: written examination (objective multiple choice type)
Tier II: written examination (objective multiple choice type)
Tier III: computer proficiency test/ skill test (wherever applicable)/document verification
