Q. 3. What're the rules for drivers in both the cases?
A.3. The driving license in India is categorized as Motorcycle License, Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) license and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) License. Apparently, there is no private driving license and commercial driving license as such. One can drive a commercial vehicles also of a category mentioned in the driving license. However, a permit may be required for driving a commercial vehicle in addition to the driving license. For the purpose of applying for a license/permit for driving a commercial vehicle, the individual should i. have a license to drive a private vehicle, ii. one year driving experience and iii. 8th standard pass and should be able to read and write.
