What is assisted reproductive technology and how is it related to surrogacy?

Recently in the context of proposed new surrogacy law in India, the media is talking about assisted reproductive technology. What is assisted reproductive technology and how it is related to the surrogacy law? Also, what is commercial surrogacy and is it practiced in India only?

Please discuss about assisted reproductive technology. What is the general opinion about the surrogacy law proposed by the Indian government?

Assisted reproductive technology is term given to a technique in which couple can not produce child. Ovem from mother is taken and sperm from
father, fertilization is done in lab and the embryo is placed in the mother's
womb.It is called IVF technique if the embryo is placed in the womb of a rented mother it is called surrogacy.
