Need details about Flax Seeds.

I have heard that flax seeds i.e. Alsi is good for health. What are the health benefits and drawbacks (if any) of Flax seeds?

The health benifits of Flax- seeds are given below-
1) It contains a number of essential minerals such as Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, healthy fibre and Omega 3 fatty acid and all these constituents are benificial for heart, kidney and liver.
2) A regular use of powdered Flax - seed along with breakfast in a minute quantity would regulate healthy cholesterol level.
3) It can be taken to control sugar level since Flax- seed contains diatery fibre which slows down the absorption of sugar in the blood.
4) Flax - seed takes care of excess weight of the body by reducing triglyceride.
5) Due to presence of fibre, it eliminates Constipation.
6) Flax- seed has the protective effect against Breast - cancer, Colon - cancer and Prostate - cancer. Omega 3 fatty - acid found in Flax- seed inhibit the growth of Tumor.
7) Two components ALA and legnans present in the Flax - seed reduce the inflammation and so it is useful in the diseases like Asthama and Parkisons - disease.
Draw back
1) Excess consumption of the same may cause diarrhoea.
2) Gas - bloating in the stomach may occur.
3) Feeling of heaviness may be felt.

Here are some of the benefits of the flax seeds.

1. Flax seeds are high in fiber and low in carbs.
2. Seeds can be good for the hair and skin.
3. Seeds in powder form consumed daily 1 tbsp helps with weight loss.
4. It helps reduce the cholesterol.
5. Seeds being Gluten-Free can be added into the diet.
6. If you consume something heavy then seeds in powder form can help with digestion.
7. Flax seeds can be good for the cancer prevention too.

Though not all things are good with the flax seed. That is why consuming it more than 2 tbsp a day may affect health. Some of the common issues with the flax seeds are -

1. Excessive flax seed eating affects the hormones. And it may lead to some issues.
2. Omega-3 fatty acids affects the sugar levels. So you need to watch out with that.
3. If consumed excessively it'd affect the health with allergy.
4. Natural digestion may get affected with the too much flax seed consumption.
5. Flax seeds may affect health with laxative issues leading to Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
