Eligibility for MD pharmacology

I completed my graduation in B Pharmacy and am interested to pursue MD Pharmacology. I read somewhere that Pharmacology is totally different for B Pharm students. But we do have Pharmacology as a subject in our academics of B Pharm for 3 demisters and clinical pharmacy for a semester at Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and have the basic idea about how the drugs acts on the target sites.

As you are interested in pursuing a course in MD Pharmacology and you have already completed Bachelor degree in Pharmacology, I think you are eligible to apply for MD course. Let me tell about the eligibility criteria.

First of all M.D. Pharmacology Stands for Doctor of Medicine in Pharmacology. Usually it is a three years course and minimum eligibility criteria for which is a Bachelor of Pharmacology or any equivalent graduation degree in science stream. Pharmacology is a particular division of biology as well as medicine that focuses on the drug action on patients. The students of this course concentrate on drug composition and its properties, medical applications, toxicology and therapy.

There are many institutes in our country which offers this course. Admission in govt colleges are done on the basis of merit list.
There are also many private institutions which are providing world-class education and facilities. Also the career scope in this course seems to be very bright in near future.

Pharmacology is the study of drug interaction in living organisms. It discusses how does a drug acts on a living body. It is a branch of medical study.
On the other hand, Pharmacy is a licensed health profession in which Pharmacists provide information regarding medication to patients and healthcare professionals.
Only a student who has successfully cleared MBBS examination, is eligible to study MP in Pharmacology. A student of Bachelor of Pharmacy is not eligible for admission in MD in Pharmacology.

Pharmacology is a branch of science where there is in depth of the studies of the interaction of drugs with the living organisms and even we evaluate the internal properties of the drugs and its effects on different diseases. Pharmacy is the course where the aspirants are taught to provide information to the patients regarding its its dose and the same can be used effectively to curb the disease. Being a medical representative of a Pharmaceutical company, it is their duty to apprise of the doctors regarding the drug efficacy of recently introduced medicine for curbing a particular disease.
MD in Pharmacology can be pursued by only by a registered doctor having at least MBBS qualification. Pharmacy graduates are not entitled to get admission in MD Pharmacology.
