Suggestions for authentic books on the kingdom of Kanishka

Eager to read up on the rule of Kanishka? Get a list of books which would give authentic & precise information about the Kanishka kingdom from this Ask Expert thread.

In our History, we have read about many great kings of India like Chandragupta Mauriya, Ashoka the Great, Samudragupta, Chandragupta II, Akbar, Rana Pratap, Krishnadeva Roy, Ranjit Singh and others. But little is known about Kanishka, the king whose capital was Purushpur (present Peshawar). His kingdom was the largest and it spread from Persia (present Iran) to Patliputra (present Patna in Bihar). I am interested to know about this great king and his kingdom.

Can anybody suggest the names of authentic historical books/articles from where I can learn about Kanishka and his kingdom? I would be grateful.
