You can do MCA even if your a commerce graduate. But as per your query, in MCA you can choose the subjects which you prefer in the second year. Those will be elective subjects. But first year all the subjects are mandatory. It also depends on the university you select. Some distance universities give lateral entry to second year based on their clause, by this you will save one year. Suppose if you want to go to regular classes those universities also have different classes. Where as your commerce subjects is concerned you can choose them in elective subjects.

As far as your inclination for MCA is concerned, you can go ahead with the same after acquiring your B.Com degree. However, you need to fulfil the essential condition that Mathematics should have been one of papers in the 10+2 stage of any recognised Board and the minimum percentage of marks at the graduation - level should not be less than 50 percent so that you can appear for the written test organised by the Institute where you intend to take admission and your final admission for MCA would depend upon the clearance of the test.
With respect to your query as indicated above, you are sure to get admission in MCA but Mathematics should have been one of papers in 10+2 level persued from a recognised Board.

A student can take admission in MCA subject to qualifying the entrance examination(s) conducted by different Universities. A B.Com. graduate can appear in the Entrance Examination for admission in MCA provided he/she studied Mathematics at X+II level and secured/has secured/expected to secure at least 50% marks in the graduation (applicable for General Category only).
    Caution: Explosive. Handle with care.

If I were you it's A Big No...

Yes one can do that by putting double load on your head but you'll end up gradually because while pursuing B.com, you'll have to choose the subjects/ courses in all three years from thre different types of courses that includes: Foundation courses, Elective courses, and Application oriented courses.

Along with these subjects, you'll need to study awareness course on Environment. So, inorder to obtain B.com you have to secure 96% marks over a min period of three years and max period of six years.

For clarification, take a look of the courses during your 1st year which are: FEG-02, FST-1, FEG-1, & MSW-009.

The 2nd year courses includes accountantcy and theories courses: ECO-1 TO ECO-14.

    The 3rd year courses are: AFW-(E), AWR-(E), AWR-(H), CTE-03, CTE-04, CTE-05, AOM-01, ASP-1, AHE-1, AMT-01, AMK-1, AED-1, ART-1, ACC-1, ANC-1 & ACS-1.

My suggestion is you initial step is to complete B.com at the first place before opt-in for MCA.

Be the Hero of the zero hour!
