    How to stop being lazy and procrastinating?

    One of my friend always feels lazy and has the habit of postponing his work regularly. He always asks others to do his work. He finds excuses to cover up his laziness. How to stop procrastinating and get things done? Is laziness a mental feeling or is it due to lack of physical strength? How to get rid of laziness?

    Laziness causes because of many reasons like tiredness , heavy body structure, not confident about self appearance , not confident on speaking capability, fear of doing things, physical strength etc.

    What you can do to get rid of laziness?

    1. Make schedule of doing activities. If you can not remember then keep notes, reminders in mobile. If that too not happening then tell others to tease you to do things. Mentally instead of getting annoyed by others we prefer to get thing done.
    2. Make habit of getting up early , have exercise and get sleep on time in night. How does it help is it makes you disciplined about yourself.
    3. Initially whenever you are postponing things let it be but make note of it. Next time as notes gets increase you will realized of load so eventually you will push to do things.
    4. Most important talk and communicate. More you communicate you will be less lazy as some or other way others pull you in doing things. That way you will improve your speaking too.
    5. Drink more water, Laziness happened due to low metabolism which is may be because of heavy eating of sugar content. Water makes things to move fast in digestion. So it gives your freshness.

    Laziness is not an inborn feature of any animal, let alone humans.
    Just watch a child or infant of any animal. It will be always playful. Our young children also go on playing and will stop only when it is hungry or sleepy. Then when its hunger is satisfied it will again play. When it feels sleepy it will sleep and getup after rest and refreshed it will again play or indulge in some activity. Many times parents and elders only demand children to sit quite be silent, stop playing etc.

    That means laziness is acquired on growing. Laziness can be due to physical fatigue due to health issues, and deficiency of some essential nutrients, fatigue due hunger and thirst. It can be also due to fatigue from mental tension and due to depression. These will be needing treatment from qualified doctor or counsellor. Once the causative factors are rectified the laziness also vanishes.We are not dealing with such laziness here.

    However the majority of people are lazy not due to the above reasons. That is just the habit of escapism from doing hard work and taking responsibility. It also happens by pampering received from childhood and the knowledge that one's needs will be taken care of by others like parents or colleagues. This kind of laziness can be solved either by the conscious will and intention of the person or by the pressure and efforts put on the person by others.

    What others can do about such people is not to take up their work, but make them do it by themselves, only giving guidance when needed. Even if the performance is not up to the mark that person should be made to review and revise and perform again. That person should come to know that there is no escape other than doing it. When the person realizes that he will simply do it at the first instance itself and find an easy way to do that.


    If one wants to get out of own lazy habit and is serious of that then the following steps can be helpful.
    1. List out all tasks to be completed.

    2. Take out the least tedious one and attempt on it and finish it. That will give a sense of completion and
    achievement. This may earn a good name from the supervisor or colleague and that will boost morale. Alternatively you may attempt first, the one which will interest you and on which you will get involved easily.

    3.After finishing the easiest, attempt the next easier one. Like that reach the tough one.

    4. Go o ticking or scoring off those tasks that are completed. Pat self for completing them.

    5. If one feels fatigued or bored, take a small break and have a tea or chat with colleagues or someone near you. Take a small walk up and down. Take some snacks etc. . and feel refreshed. Once refreshed come back and attempt remaining tasks based on priority or easiness.

    5.There may be some tasks left incomplete or even not attempted. If time is over or one feels really uninterested or fatigued, list it out as first in the list for the next day. Attempt them next day after reviewing priority of next day.

    6.Whenpeople see that you are putting effort and are serious in doing your tasks, they may volunteer to help in the difficult tasks.

    7.When you feel really lazy, once in a while indulge in your favourite pastime for some time and then revert back to your main tasks.

    8. Do not expect miracles on the first time itself. Habits die hard. Chronic habits leave you very very slowly.

    9. Initially be happy in small successes. Success brings more success. But be sincere and put in efforts consistently and consciously.

    10. Then if at all you feel slight doubt of feeling lazy any time, deliberately involve in some activity. Laziness will vanish.
    Where there is will, there is way.

    Laziness has a lot to do with our habits and how we manage our everyday life. Our habits lead to laziness. For example, regardless of your age, you should have some goals. Lack of goals and planning leads to the laziness. The people who are lazy often justify it with other things happening in their life. But that should not be the way. And in order to avoid that here are some of the things one can do.

    1. Set goals for your life.
    2. When you set goals to choose a short term and long term goals.
    3. For short term, set 1 week, 1-month goal.
    4. For long term set 1 year, 5-year goals.
    5. Work towards reaching those goals.
    6. Avoid comparing your life with others.
    7. Focus on goals and don't judge yourself with results.

    If you follow this pattern, this will surely keep you active. And it can make you avoid being lazy all the time. And that can in itself be a good way out of procrastination.

    Laziness happens due to the tiredness in the body and mind, like lack of confidence, the appearance of the body due to the comparison, complexion matters, lack of speech among friends or in the group of persons.
    When a person tries to do a work, again and again, the work not gets finished then the body get tired first in case of the physical work, mind get laziness after the body.
    If the work is mental work like studying, calculating sums, solving problems for the exams again and again and not able to understand the sentences mentioned also will bring tiredness in the mind first and then the body also becomes tired with hatred. This will sometimes lead to the procrastinating due to lack of self-confidence, not finishing up the work on time, not eating and drinking properly, eating too much when there is a failure.

    To be active first understand what the problem is, try to coordinate with some members of the family if it's a family problem, get the help of the friends also. This is one of the ways to solve the problems and get refreshed. This will not allow your mind to be tired or to procrastinate things around you.

    Wake up early in the morning and do some sort of physical exercise for mind and body.
    Jumping jacks, skipping, jogging, walking, running, lifting heavy items makes the body sweat and gives some activeness to the body. Meditation gives strength to the mind that gives confidence. Even a meditation for about 10 minutes refreshes the mind and brings a kind of freshness to the mind and body.

    Drinking lots of water makes you fresh during the summer, drinking juices like pomegranate, lime juice, watermelon juice, carrot juice, adding green vegetables to your diet will give strength and activeness in the body.
    Read books in small paragraphs and then convert them into big paragraph gives you the reading habit. Problem-solving skills comes after lots of understanding the problem, trying to break the problems into pieces and applying the solution will get a solution for the major problems.

    Necessity is the mother of invention. If somebody is helping me and doing my work I will be lazy always. If nobody is helping me and when the necessity comes I will throw all laziness aside and work. I am feeling very hungry and I have to eat something. Nobody is there in the house to cook. Either I have to go out, spend money and eat or I have to cook food. Definitely I will do something. My laziness will go. Laziness is a state of mental in activeness and body will not help us. We should overcome this. For that tune your mind in such a way that it will cooperate with you. You should develop interest towards the work. Then automatically your laziness will go. If there are many works, list out the works.. Attempt the easiest work and once you complete the work remove that from your list. Next select the next best. Likewise you can complete all the works and your laziness will run away from you.
    What I suggest please develop a type of interest towards the work you have to do, develop a thinking that the work is a necessity and divide the work into parts and attempt part by part. You will overcome your laziness.

    The simple solution to overcome laziness and procastrination is to set own goals. The goals may be of different types. These are of different duration. We have to write these goals prominently in a good piece of paper and keep it in such a manner that the paper comes to our notice every now and then. Furthermore, it is also necessary to control our mind and channelize our energy towards fulfillment of goals.

    But these are easier said than done. These methods take lot of time. But if a person is determined to overcome his/her laziness and procastrinating habit, he/she can do wonders. Our mind is our best friend and at the same time our worst enemy. We have to use it as our best friend. Every power is within us. Every goal is within our reach.

    General query that happens to all. Laziness is not a mental feeling It always depend on how active you were earlier. When we are child our parents pamper us to much and does not allow us to do any work. That is the first point where laziness starts. According to me when the child starts going to 1st standard guide the child to wear its uniform, polish its shoe etc everything you need not teach them at a stretch, but gradually year by year teach them some minor works which they are capable of doing. This will make the child do its work on its own and in future it won't be lazy to do any work. Teaching the child about personal behavior and work will not be thought in any school. Its the parents work to teach your child to be always self independent not always dependent.
    The another main reason of being lazy is getting up late in the morning. If you get up late in the morning your always lazy and want to sleep the whole day. Instead get up early morning and do some warm up exercise then you will be active the whole day. To get up early you have to go to bed early.
    So according to me laziness is not a disease its a worm which we ourselves create it.

    Actually Laziness can happen in two ways. The first one is physical reason and the next is mental reason. You do not have specified the physical state of your friend i.e. is he/she is suffering from obesity or not etc. If he/she has too much of weight then it will be a great reason for tiredness. When people get fatty, or gain too much of weight it reduces their stamina. They usually feel tired after a little work. So, if he/she is suffering from obesity, then first advice him/her to go for a physical checkup. Tell him/her to maintaining a proper diet and if possible join in a gym. Take food in short intervals, rather eating so much of foods after a long interval which increases your weight and makes you lazy. Tell him/her to exercise daily to keep fit and fiddle. tell him/her to do yoga every day, which will improve physical and mental fitness.
    If it is mental laziness then you have to try it overcome. Your friend must consult to a psychiatrist or can join to a motivation class, from where he/she can get motivational boost up to do his/her own work.
