Any option after CS other than LLB

Confused about which career option to select after CS? Searching for the best options? Find out which field after CS has the best future scope on this Ask Expert page.

I am doing a BA degree with CS and will be writing my executive in June 2018. I would like to know whether there is any other option to pursue with CS as LLB is of 3 years? I can devote only a year more to my studies and after that want to earn. I thought of Diploma in law from Symbiosis, Pune. Will that be advisable? Will a diploma course help me? If not, what are the other options available for me?

You are about to complete your CS executive course along with a BA by middle of next year. The CS certification itself is a good one to help you in getting a job placement .

Since you are keen to do another qualification but have a time commitment of one year. Then you need to focus of 6 monthly course. There would be many options but it would be sensible to narrow it down the areas that are your core strength or areas that you have an aptitude to excel. You may have a flair for industrial law, company mergers and demergers or the equity market. Once you earmark a few areas, then you can try and see if you can find a course that would enable you CV to be better with a 6 month course certification.

You can consider a Certificate course in corporate social responsibility, consumer protection law, investment management or even a diploma in equity research.

Please check out the IGNOU website, where in the school of law offers certicate courses
in Human Rights (CHR),Consumer Protection (CCP),International Humanitarian Law (CIHL )
Anti Human Trafficking (CAHT),Co-operation, Co-operative Law (CCLBL)

Ignou also offers a Post Graduate Diploma in International Business Operations (PGDIBO)

National stock exchange also offers some short term courses, you can look into if you have a passion for portfolio management etc. https://www.ncfm-india.com/ORE/CEPM/

I would suggest register on forums where in you can discuss with people in a similar stage (https://www.caclubindia.com/forum/)

Do one 6 month course, get a job and then why not think about pursuing a proper PG degree in Law, then you would have a better idea as to what would help you in career progression. Good Luck.

It is good that you are completing your CS course this year after your graduation. After completing your CS you will have many openings as company secretary or related posts in all limited companies in public sector as well as private sector. Is it that you don't want to get into the earning mode immediately after completing your CS. Then you can think of doing some additional certificate courses or diploma courses which will strengthen your core skills.
Indira Gandhi National Open University is offering many certificate courses which will come in handy to you to claim your preference for posts in corporate governance field. Many related courses are there. You can choose any course which is of interest to you.
Many companies prefer having a qualified person as a company secretary who is having some additional skills in accountancy and financial fields. That is why people with CA will go to CS so that they can become good CFO and Company Secretary. But CA is a very long process. Hence what you can do is you can try a certificate course or diploma course of one-year duration in the finance or account field and this will become a very good weapon in your arm for getting a good position in companies.
Hence you go in that direction. Wish you all the best for you.

Company- secretary course is valuable in the sense that it has huge demand in both private and public - undertaking organisations. In the meanwhile, you may register yourself in the plateform such as Naukari.com in order to secure employability.
As is evident from your own submission, you would like to have some additional diplomas benificial for your job- prospects.
IGNOU runs several diploma courses of short tenure ranging from six to twelve months and aquistion of one or two diploma from that university can widen your job- prospects. You may undertake labour - management course or Industrial - relations. These courses will help you in being familiar with labour practices employed in the industry and also equip you to know labour laws - an essential component component to establish cordiality between the workers and the management.
Since you would be able to show these qualifications in your resume, you would have pretty chances of your absorption in a reputed organisation.
