You are in your first year B.com and want to know about IPCC which is a part of the pathway to become a Chartered Accountant (1.registration,2.CPT,3.Intermediate course,3.Practicals4.Final exams)
First is to register yourself with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Once you are registered it is valid for three years.
In your case, you NEED NOT take the common proficiency test-CPT exam. There is a direct entry route for commerce graduates with 55% overall marks, so once you are in the Final year of the B.com, you can register and enroll in the intermediate courses. Next is a one month of orientation course after which you will register for practical training(three years). After nine months of practical training, you can appear for the intermediate exams (which you are enquiring about). If you wish you can move on the complete the final exams after 3 years of practical training and be qualified for registration as a CA.
IPCC is the integrated professional competence course. In this course, you have Group 1 exams (4 papers - accounting, law, cost and management accounting, taxation) and Group 2 exams(4 papers- advanced accounting, auditing, enterprise information system & strategic management, finance economics & management).
These exams are held starting from the first week of May and November every year, you can get details from common education sites, icai website etc.
You still have time, you can focus on your B.com studies because a good basic knowledge from B.Com would be helpful for your IPCC and CA.
