Syllabus to select for MBBS Entrance exam

Confused of choosing between CBSE and ICSE to build the career of your ward in Medicine? A typical question always haunts a parent and here are the few suggestions from our ISC experts. please go through this page.

My son is studying in 6th class (ICSE pattern) now. We want him to appear for MBBS entrance after 12th.
To appear for the MBBS entrance exam which syllabus he should follow. ICSE or CBSE. Most of the students are going to CBSE syllabus who want to prepare for MBBS studies. Whether we should change the syllabus from ICSE to CBSE now or after 10th Standard. Please suggest.

Anyone of the two is OK. The percentage of students who are getting selected for MBBS is more in case of CBSE students. But as such there are students from ICSE also getting seats in MBBS. So it is more than the syllabus, The hard work of the student and understanding of the subject is also very important. So let your son concentrate on studies and let him keep it in mind that he should understand the subject well. Let him answer the old question papers. That will help him in answering the paper methodically in the team.

You have to judge your child in a different perspective- and examine his painstaking attitude, devotion to studies, patience in the hours of crisis and swiftness employed in solving the problems. If your child does have all these qualities, you can trust your child to crack through the MBBS entrance - test irrespective of follow up different cirriculam.
However, one thing is important - he must be provided suitable inputs so as to clear the test. A good coaching Institute providing him the valuable tips in relation to tackling of different problems in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany would strengthen his problem solving skills. Moreover check the company he keeps. He must be surrounded with such kids having equal passion for the said test.

There is a general perception that CBSE is the better syllabus if the child is going to appear for MBBS entrance test. This perception is probably based on the similarity between the model questions bank and CBSE syllabus.

Now, in my opinion what counts is not ICSE or CBSE but the interest and aptitude of the student. The student should not be confined to the outline of the syllabus and rather should concentrate for deep and detailed study.

Today the competition is so much that even ignoring to attempt a single question will keep you out of the list of selected candidates. One has to practice all sort of questions whether they are covered in ICSE or CBSE syllabus. Thorough study is the only key to crack the exams today and there are no short cuts.

NEET is conducted by CBSE. And it has been clearly mentioned in the NEET guidelines that for NEET, CBSE syllabus will be followed.

Having said this, I must mention there is not much difference between the syllabus of CBSE and that of ISC. At the most, there is only 10% variation in the syllabi of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (the three subjects on which NEET is held).

Both syllabus are OK and it depends on child's capability
If your child do CBSE it would be be slightly easier to clear entrance exam
ICSE/ISC would be beneficial during MBBS study and your child has to put additional effort in getting MBBS admission

It purely depends upon the interest of the student. If the student has the capability to study, then selecting any boards will be good. The syllabus between CBSE and ICSE is different. Perform well in the 12th exams and will be able to find good rank for MBBS entrance exams.

Syllabus of CBSE(Central Board of Secondary Education) is better than other boards. Primary focus is on Mathematics and Science. CBSE is best because competitive exam are taken or based on CBSE syllabus like NEET or JEE main,,, etc. All the major nationalized competitive exams like JEE are conducted by CBSE. CBSE is the national board of our country. The educational material and teaching methodology is conducive to the national interests of the country. CBSE is considered to be tougher than state boards but is more student-friendly and interesting to study. CBSE not only imparts quality knowledge to the students but also ensures overall physical and mental growth. CBSE offers a lot of flexibility to the students to pursue their field of interest. At each stage of education, students are given a choice to study in their field of interest and there is no compulsion to pick a certain stream.
