I'll recommend you to prefer B.Tech not a dual degree. Generally, it took 6 years if you do B.Tech without diploma and M.Tech seperately. Duration of dual degree course of B.Tech + M.Tech is 5 years. If you go for Dual degree then you cannot benefit of lateral entry. Leet(Latreal entry entrance test) is a popular entrance exam for those student who want to take admission in B.Tech/BE after diploma. It is advisable to go for B. Tech with lateral entry programme. Diploma holders directly admitted to 2nd year or third semester of B. Tech. For that you have to qualify lateral entry level entrance exam conducted by universities. There are many courses after B. Tech which have better scope instead M.Tech. If you don't wants to go for higher studies then, you can easily get a job through campus placement after completion of B. Tech. You can apply for PSU which gives you satisfaction job and salary. You can go with civil service examinations. You can go with MBA if you are intrested in marketing. If your financial conditions is good then you can go for study abroad. Setup your own business also a great option after completion of your B.Tech. It lets you have a freedom to express your creativity and ideas. So immense opportunities you have after B. Tech.

There is no lateral entry provision for the diploma holders into the dual degree course. You can join the dual degree course after your intermediate only. So you may not get any advantage of joining dual degree course now.
For diploma holders, there will be a separate entrance test for joining into B.Tech 2nd year course. That means you can complete your degree course in 3 years. There are many universities and colleges all over India offering this lateral entry provision to diploma holders. You can join by getting a good rank in the entrance test. After completing your degree based on the need you can think of doing M.Tech.

With your existing qualification ie Diploma in Mech - engineering, you are eligible for the entry in the second year of the four year degree course of Mech - engineering provided there is vacancy in the branch. You will be required to appear in the entrance - test and the subsequent oral - interview for your ultimate selection.
Once you avail this oppurtunity by being a Diploma - holder, the privilege of enjoying the concession of attaining dual degree such as B.Tech + M.Tech will be denied to you.
You must focus on your B.Tech degree and with your impressive marks in B.Tech , there will be multiple oppurtunities for you such as joining M.Tech with a high percentile in GATE, a reputed business - school such as IIM or a decent job in a public undertaking etc.

    1. It is not possible to join the dual degree programme (B.Tech + M.Tech) in India through lateral entry for Diploma Engineers.
    2. As joining dual degree prgoramme is not possible through lateral entry, you must focus on joining B. Tech through lateral entry programme in a reputed engineering college of your state (i.e., Uttar Pradesh).
    3. After qualifying B.Tech with good marks, you may think about the next step, i.e., joining M.Tech or getting an employment in a reputed organization.

    A. You have already done your diploma, Now if you pursue the dual degree, we need to consider what are the advantages and disadvantages for you.

    The advantages are
1.If you are very good in your subject knowledge, then this degree enables you to be better equipped with the academic knowledge (B.Tech) and the research aspects (M.Tech) of the sector you choose. You can get dual B.Tech and M.Tech in the following branches(Civil Engineering,Materials Science and Engineering,Biological Sciences and Bio engineering,Mechanical,Electrical,Aerospace,Chemical,Computer Science and Engineering).

    2. You will be better equipped and will have a higher chance of recruitment and a higher pay package because many large firms will choose you, if your specializations meets the core demand of the industry sector in which the firm is a player.

    3. Research always gives you an edge and this will enable you to consider a PhD more seriously that just a basic graduate without much of research experience or exposure.

    4.You would save one year

    The disadvantages
1.Your diploma years would be wasted in academic sense because a lateral entry would not be feasible
2.You have to stick to jobs that are in the stream of your B.TEch+M.TEch specialization and this would be a little narrow than the generic job space for a regular candidates.
3.Some students finish their basic graduation and then move on to MBA (B.TEch or B.E then MBA). If you are thinking about this, then you would waste 1 year instead of saving (B.TEch+ M.Tech+ MBA).

    B. Please consider this in the background of your age, the financial aspects and then take a call.
