Maharastra is a very big state. There are multiple cities and places which are worth visiting. The selection of the places depends more on your interest and concept. If you are going on a pilgrimage, you have to select different places and if you want for a happy holiday you have to select a different set of places.
The important cities in Maharashtra are Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nasik and Shirdi. There are many other small cities and towns which are also good for a visit. Mumbai and Pune are more of site seeing places. Nasik is good for both. You have temples and site seeing places also. Shirdi is a very well known pilgrim centre.
There are many temples worth visiting in Maharastra. Shirdi Saibaba temple is attracting many people these days. Sani Shinganapur is near to Shirdi and many people visit this place definitely.
Going to Nasik from Shirdi is easy. Here in Nasik, there are many temples and the birthplace of the great river Godavari is a must visit place. The temple of Triyambakeswar is a very famous temple here.
Nagpur is very famous for Haldiram foods. You will relish the lunch in Halidirams restaurant in this town.
Mumbai and Pune are nearby and there many places to visit. The gateway of India, Shoe house, and many other places are there.
