Hi friend,
I need more explaination on your question.But however I treat it as that you like to know how to choose a good or true relationship.
True relationship or Soul Partner or Life Partner are all one meaning which is that they are going to be your soul.No matter how they are and what they react you still think them great always.
True relationship will come into your life like a Summer rain.You will never know how it comes.It can be a realtionship with your long time friend or it can be a relationship with a just met person.But its the feel that you get that you can live your life happy with that person.
If you think that, "If this person is in my life I will be happy and this person will make my environment lively".No worries then don't hesitate.

There is really no concept of real soul mate..After marriage, every repents saying you can't my real soul mate :) Just kidding..
Life partner means who will be your partner for life time. He will understand what is your need, when you will need. He will understand your feelings, your emotions, would read your heart and mind...Let any hurdles come, he must stand by with you. Whenever you are upset, he will make you laugh. Whenever you are happy, he will be happy with you. Whenever you are sad, his heart will goes down for you. Anyone can not be perfect in the world, you will have to choose an imperfect man to make him perfect. I think you can find all these qualities in your best friend only with whom you can get more comfort.

Opinion of choosing right partner differs from person to person
1) Never marry a Girl if she is eldest in her family and you are youngest in your family.
2) Girl should not be taller or similar height of you.
3) should be talkative if you are not talkative and vice verse.

This is a very good question.
Firstly,I feel the "real soul-mate" is always around you. its just that you have to identify him/her.
Characteristics of real soul-mate:
1)The one with whom you are quite comfortable.Whenever you see him/her you feel like sharing your experiences without any second thought.
2)The one whom u trust and are comfortable sharing secrets with.
3)The one who always makes you feel relaxed whatever the situation maybe.
4)One who respects you, for what you are and understands all your strengths and weaknesses better than you.
5)Lastly, the one whose character is not exactly equal to yours but compliments yours i.e your weaknesses should be his/her strengths and vice versa ,so that you become a perfect couple.

Soulmate -> a good question, whether we are having choice for our parent, no evenif we saying my parent are most lovable in the world. That way marriage is called a contract of compromise, both end have to compromise for each others happiness, I think intially you can set a parameters that was is acceptable and what is not accptable. What understanding you requiring, whether you want working or nonworking fellow. We can judge outside world that is not having a significance beyond a certain level. The basic thing is you have to develop intimacy, emotional devotion and understanding after marraige.
