Soon we are dis continuing the private messaging system in ISC. We found that this feature has been abused a lot, consuming lot of system resources. Also, a public website like ISC has no need for a private messaging system.
However, you will still be able to contact other members by sending a public message. This will be in the form of 'Orkut'. Whatever message you send, will appear in the profile of the recipient. The message will stay there publicly visible until the recipient delete the message.
This will help us identify the spammers and reduce "in appropriate" messages.
I hope the public messaging system will make ISC a better place.
Diamond, Platinum members and Admins will be able continue to send private messages. Also, Admins will be able to read all Private messages.
You may publish your personal mail id or messenger ids in your profile, if you like others to contact you directly without sending a public message.
I know everyone likes Private messages, but we have to limit this due to various reasons including Abuse, system resources etc.

I dont know about abuse. But definitely misused. I got requests for info regarding the school details I have uploaded and many other queries and offers. But I have also got weired requests about help regarding jobs etc. It is indeed sad that we misuse a facility that has been given to us and end up depriving others also of the benefit.
