Any Urdu lover at ISC who can explain the meaning of this famous couplet by Nida Fazli?!

Did not understand the meaning of an Urdu couplet penned by Nida Fazli? Forum members will help you out with a knowledgeable explanation.

The other day I was listening to radio & this beautiful nazm by lyricist Nida Fazli was being played

'Kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin milta
Kahin jamin toh kahin aasmaan nahin milta

Jise bhi dekhiye wo apne aap mein gum hai
Jubaaan mili hai magar ham-jubaaan nahin milta

It set me thinking that what Nida Fazli wanted to say by that couplet. Can anyone explain the meaning of this famous couplet by Nida Fazli, especially the last line, please?

Kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin milta,
('no one ever gets the entire world in its totality on permanent basis')
Kahin jamin toh kahin aasmaan nahin milta
('sometimes they don't get their place on the earth and at other times they don't get, their place in the heaven')
Jise bhi dekhiye wo apne aap mein gum hai
('spot anyone, they are lost in their own affairs')
Jubaaan mili hai magar ham-jubaaan nahin milta
('though we are gifted with prowess to speak, but we never get someone who shares our emotions')
Literally 'ham-jubaaan' means the individual who shares the same language, but as is the practice of weaving a poetry, the poet here is diving deeper and trying to convey that due to differences of opinions in almost everything, we seldom find the desired harmony of thoughts among human beings.

Let us encourage each other in sharing knowledge.

It is such a beautiful nazm. This is what I understand -

"Kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin milta
Kahin jamin toh kahin aasmaan nahin milta"

It is a poetic way of saying that you never get/achieve all that you desire in life. Be it love or material things - there is always something missing from our lives. We keep wanting more or hoping for something, not satisfied in what we have. The search for what we want continues. 'Mukammal jahan' means complete world. Jab zameen milti hae toh aasmaan ki umeed reh jati hae.

"Jise bhi dekhiye wo apne aap mein gum hai
Jubaaan mili hai magar ham-jubaaan nahin milta"

The next two lines mean that everyone is engrossed in themselves, busy with their own affairs. We have the same thoughts/goals/aspirations/feelings/emotions, but no one to share them with. We remain alone, even in a crowd. Sab paas hein, phir bhi akelapan hae.

A fool will always try to make sense of his nonsense!

Kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin milta
It means no one in this world will be completely satisfied with his worldly possessions.
Kahin jamin toh kahin aasmaan nahin milta
Some people don't get their basic needs in this life and some don't completely achieve their big dreams and aspirations.
Jise bhi dekhiye wo apne aap mein gum hai
Everyone is busy in their own life and has no time to spare for others.
Jubaaan mili hai magar ham-jubaaan nahin milta
Every person has been gifted with a tongue to speak but very few have been given some partner or relative who will support them forever in any circumstance.

'Kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin milta (No one is assured of a definite and serene world for him)
Kahin jamin toh kahin aasmaan nahin milta (If some one has the ability but none has ever recognized him )

Jise bhi dekhiye wo apne aap mein gum hai (No body is satisfied in this world as every one is facing the wrath of the life )
Jubaaan mili hai magar ham-jubaaan nahin milta ( Those who are unable to keep their promise are the waste lot in this world )
