J&K separatists threaten to burn alive lady two-wheeler drivers

A previously unheard organization, which calls itself 'Sangbaaz Association Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Kashmir' has issued a Taliban-style diktat against women and shopkeepers in the valley.
The warning, issued through posters, threatens Kashmiri girls of death if they would be seen driving their two-wheelers on the streets.

The poster states: "We request all girls, please do not use Scooty. If we see any girl who rides Scooty, we will burn the Scooty as well as the girl".

As usual, the secular-liberal intelligentsia and feminists are silent. Probably they are enjoying J&K's backward journey towards dark middle-age.

In the first ever budget presented by the Mehbooba Mufti Government, a provision was announced that the girl students will get a subsidy of 50 per cent on the purchase of two wheelers. There was a waiver of school fees for girl students up to the higher secondary level and other women centric measures like a dedicated city bus service for women, opening of women police stations, exclusive women toilets in all district and sub-district hospitals, Entrepreneur Development Centres to guide and train aspiring women entrepreneurs and reservation of 10% of the land in the industrial estates for women entrepreneurs Etc.
So on the part of the Government many steps are being taken for the welfare of the women in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Regarding the graffiti campaign asking women not to ride two wheelers, the separatists as well as mainstream party leaders have disowned the same. Sang Baaz Association is an unknown nondescript outfit which should better be ignored instead of sensationalising the issue.

Let us encourage each other in sharing knowledge.

I don't know much about the Jammu and Kashmir politics. But, burning the girls who drive a two wheeler is very inhuman and devilish. Even imagining it makes my blood run cold. There is a limit to everything, right? And, the message on the poster is quite pathetic. The first half requests whereas the second half threatens.

    Let us continue learning.

After reading the news posted by the author it was not clear as to the separatists are against the Scooty brand two wheeler or totally against the ladies driving two wheeler in the valley. Surely this is highly condemnable.

Today Islam is the most misunderstood religion, surprisingly by both its followers and non followers. Any religion gives guidelines to follow the right way of living in this mortal world and make way for individuals to finally enter into the world of Lord. Now the rule of any religion can be interpreted in many ways. It totally depends on the interpreters who try to understand it by his wisdom. Therefore it is the responsibility of intellectuals of that religion to interpret it in the most suitable way and circulate it to the world, so that no other meaning can be interpreted from the same verse as per individual's convenience. Today it is a fact that in the name of Islam many organisations are running their business and time to time they misinterpret any verse of the holy Koran and circulate directives in the area of their influence. This new ban on girls is the outcome of same mentality. It may have been given by certain group but they must have correlated this dictate with Islam. This is dangerous and all intellectuals of Islam have to come forward and condemn it openly and law enforcing agency must take stern action against such miscreants.
