- #578916Availing services of the retired teachers is not an initiative of the Arvind Kejriwal Government. It was prevalent even in the past also though the terms and conditions might have been different.
The Delhi Government had created 9,623 posts in March for regular teachers. It was planned to conduct a test to recruit them with a provision that the guest teachers will be given some weightage in the marks. Since the 'weightage' aspect file is pending with the LG, it is not possible to conduct the test to recruit the teachers.
According to the proposal which has already been cleared by the Directorate of Education, the schools can themselves recruit retired teachers on hourly payment basis. Such teachers will be paid between Rs 800 and Rs 1,000 for an hour. However, the proposal has not yet been cleared by the finance department.
Maximum shortage of teachers in the schools in Delhi is in the subjects of English and science.
