Cyclone Vardah did cause considerable damage in Tamilnadu. Now, it has been weakened and has entered Karnataka as a depression causing rainfall in the state. However, the Cyclone has an important after-effect. It has slowed down the internet speed in Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. Various service providers have said that the Cyclone has affected undersea digital cables and it might take a considerable time to bring the situation back to normalcy. Internet traffic moving via Trans-Pacific route may get impacted. This may result in intermittent degradation of services through internet Links.

The slow internet speed will also hamper e-banking system and other electronic transactions for next few days.

The impact of Vardah Puyal was so great that over 4000 big trees were uprooted and scores of telephone poles and electric poles were damaged and also some cell towers were snapped of wire and connection. All these gave rise to slower speed of internet and in some places there are no power even. Before the cyclone could struck, the government already warned the people not to panic if they are denied with power and cell phone connections. So the departments concerned are restoring the lines on war footing and sooner the normalcy would be maintained. Meanwhile CM Pannelselvam sought 1000 crs as immediate relief for TN.
