Is 2016 year of resurgence for Indian hockey?

In 2016, Indian Men's Hockey Team reached the Quarter final in Rio Olympics. The Women's Team's performance has also shown signs of improveement. This has been the first time since 1980 Moscow Olympics, Indian Women's Hockey Team played in Rio Olympics.

However, more heartening is the performance of Indian Colts in 2016. The young Indian team lifted the Junior Men's Hockey World Cup, beating Belgium 2-1 in the final in December, 2016. During the year, Orissa Government organised the bggest Hockey tornament of the world. 1458 Hockey teams from Odisha, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh consisting of 25,000 male and female Hockey players from these states took part in this grand tournament.

From the above indications, I feel that 2016 would prove to be the year of resurgence for Indian Hockey.

Yes the author made the right observation. For the first time in the history of India, the game hockey has made a great come back thanks to the performance of Indian Men's team, Indian Women hockey team and finally the great Indian colts which outclassed with their superlative performance and also earned the appreciation of our PM Modi. From this we can opine that apart from cricket there is lots of enthusiasm and interest among the public on hockey and therefore the men, women and the colts must be constantly be playing their matches against various countries to keep the tempo of winning for our country.
