38 year old Naveen is a resident of Kozhikode and is an employee of Kerala State Electricity Board. He undertook a journey to Sabarimala Temple this year. It was a 600 Kilometer journey. He completed it in seventeen days. And throughout the journey, a stray dog, now named Malu, accompanied Naveen. Naveen has stated that he tried to shoo away the stray dog several times during the journey, but the dog never left and accompanied him throughout the journey keeping at a distance of aboutt 20 Metres from Naveen. Later Naveen took special permission to make arrangeements to bring back the dog with him. Now the dog is also a resident of Naveen's home in Beypore, Kozhikode.

By the way, Malu is the short form of "Mallikappuram", a term used to denote the female devotees of Sabarimala.

This post once more testifies the bonding and the obeying of a faithful dog which wont care about danger to its own life as walking 600 kms along with so called master up to Sabarimala is something cannot happen and must be appreciated. Normally stray dogs are subjected to their own colony or boundaries and they wont come out of that. Even if they try to barge into other areas, the dogs pertaining to that area would chase it or even kill it. So what is baffling me that how the dog managed to cover so much distance without disturbance or risk to its life and how other dogs could tolerate this to happen ?

Not only the dog accompanied Naveen, it guarded his belongings when he slept.
Non-violence is the greatest Dharma; So too is all righteous violence.

After reading the additional information provided by the author I wish to further contribute some interesting tips on how to tackle the stray dogs to make friendship. We all know that the street dogs are multiplying in their population and they literally dominate that area and boss over every one including human beings whether regular or known to it. However just offer some food or biscuits to them once in a while. They will become friend and also guard your home from outside. Probably same thing happened with Naveen. The stray dog was seems to have been fed by him and hence it accompanied to the long journey and also safeguarded his belongings.
