Is Humanity / Helping Nature of Indians Decreasing With The Increased Use of Smartphones?

Until recently before the increased use of smartphones in India, I think people were extending a helping hand to the victims of a roadside accident or drowning person in a flood or a fire victim or any other such incident.

But after the increased use of smartphones in India, people are seen eager to take pics / shots of such victims instead of helping them.

Recently I happen to watch a news item where they showed the pathetic condition / cry of a road accident victim in one of the metros. People were around him taking pics / videos of him but no one came forward to help him.

    What's your opinion on this?

Alright! Fasten your seat belts because we are going on a ride to History of mankind.

To be honest humans weren't humans from the very beginning. We've been killing each other in the name of religion from past 3000 years. Genghis Khan's, Attila the Hun's, Adolf Hitler's, Vlad the Impaler's, Alexander the Great's and so many other conquests piled up millions of dead bodies. In the 16th century we burnt "witches" alive. We crucified like 500 Christians in Rome. Muhammed Ghori plundered our economy, so did Muhammed Ghazni.
Britain ruled over 3/4th of the world with an iron fist and saw innumerable corpses on it's way to success.

Now tell me, is it really the smart phones that is making us in-compassionate? No! They just came around the last decade. We never were kind to begin with. So there's no need to blame smart phones. They just provide us with a better distraction.

The stronger a light shines the darker are the shadows around it.

Not necessary to peep into the history of which we were / are not a part of but we had just read it in the text books. Just rewind the recent past where we had seen / witnessed people (unknown) rushing to help a victim. But there is a change in the present scenario people instead of helping a victim, take pics / videos of the victim and then leaving him / her to his / her fate.
    Thanks & Regards

There are still people who extend their helping hand to victims. Also there are people who take selfies as you said. There are both kind of people we see today and just because we see one or two instances of people recording a video we cannot say humanity is decreasing because of the use of cellphones and technology. No doubt there are so many people who wants to update each and everything on a social media but not everyone are like that. We cannot blame technology alone for losing humanity.
