Author: mohan    10 Jun 2008Member Level: GoldRating:     Points: 1

Solution for 5th:
for 2X2 the number for clickks requried is 2.
Example: B | w
-----
W | B

click on the B
-
W

then
W | w
-----
B | B

click on line B|B

then

w | w
-----
W | w

So for 2x2, we nee 2( 2^1) clicks
for 3x3, we need 4( 2^2) clicks
for 4x4, we need 8 ( 2^3) clicks

Generally, for nxn, we need ( 2^(n-1) ) Clicks

so

for 96*96 , we need 2^97 clicks.

Answer for 5th Question:

Explination : 4802

For 2x2 ,
We need 2 clicks

For 3x3 ,
We need 4 clicks.
FLOOR(N*N/2)

For 4x4 ,
We need 8 clicks.
Ie., 4*4/2.
For 6x6 ,
We need 18 clicks.
Ie., 6*6/2 = 18.
For NxN,
We need
N*(N/2) Clicks If N is “Even Number”.
FLOOR(N*N/2) clicks id N is “ODD Number.”

FOR THIS ISSUE I AM GOING TO REVEAL THE ANSWER FOR 5 TH QUESTION, HERE IS THE ANSWER FOR THAT
When alternate columns are selected and switched colours, we get each row of same color, with alternate rows of different colors. Thus we need 49 clicks to get this result. Next 49 clicks on alternate rows will get us chess board of same color, hence 98.

Author: mohan    10 Jun 2008Member Level: GoldRating:     Points: 2
Dear Bharath,

As per mentioned in the question.
We have to consider the Individual blocks and we need to switch the color of each block.

But as per your explination , you are considering the entire row,and it is switching.

Is it agreeable?
No,I dont think so.
