Brave women are those who refused to marry a boy demanding dowry.

On this International Women's day being celebrated across the world, we seldom notice the brave and bold decisions of some of the women in India which are neither reported in the news paper or shown in the social media. Though educated, the groom side people always feels to ask for dowry irrespective of the financial position of bride side and thus unable to cope up for the hefty dowry many marriages have been stopped or cancelled. It all started with Nisha Sharma who is the qualified modern girl and yet refused the marriage just because of the dowry demand by the grooms side. On verifying the such brave acts it is found that 3680 girls have refused marriage across the country just for the dowry.

Brave women need not be on the lines of Jhansi Lakshmi Bai. Kiran Bedi, Sushma Swaraj or even great Indira Gandhi. A modest beginning can be made asserting their rights. If the demand is certain and has the power, then the society would also support them. Many women are suffering at the hands of men on family atrocities. Not that they wont have the strength to defy the orders of their husband, but they fear for the back lash by the parents and also the society. So women should come out of their oblivion and assert their right to live in trouble free environment , then only the real power of the women could come out.

This is the competition entry for the Brave women

Very nice post by Mohan highlighting the actions of some courageous women. Also appropriate post on the occasion of women's day.
It is only because of social inequality and financial concerns that women are often reluctant to fight openly in society against injustice to them but thanks to women's lib movement and Govt support to them at various levels that they are coming out of closet and showing their braveness at different forums.
Things will improve further with more women getting educated and joining jobs in different capacities as already happened in some developed countries.
The greedy people asking dowry and doing injustice and cruelty to women should understand that women is more than a housewife and until unless you give them their well deserved place society at large will not progress.

    Knowledge is power.

No doubt, this is an excellent post from Mr. Mohan. At the same time, Mr. Sun is also correct that this is below the stipulated word-limit. Let the concerned Editor decide the fate of this thread. Why are we fighting?

Partha is right. Members are requested not to get into an acrimonious debate on what is right and wrong and making accusations at each other. Stick to giving your views expressed in the thread only. The jury panel will decide on whether or not an entry is valid.
When people come at you with their worst, you should come at them with your best (advice given to Selena Gomez by her mother, quoted in Time magazine.)

    Mr. Mohan,
Your good thought about the brave women is really great. It is true that the women who refuse to marry a body demanding dowry must be brave enough to face the life. Time is not far away for women to demand dowry from men. Our women are turning slowly like brave men. Though your write- up is short of length, it deserves an applause and also some award. Well done Mohan.
