According to you, what qualities a candidate should possess for becoming an army officer?

Thousands of candidates take exams like CDS, NDA and AFCAT aspiring to be an army officer and after clearing these exams they have to face the Service Selection Board.
And almost everyone fears the second phase a little bit because nobody knows what exactly the SSB is expecting from a candidate. What kind of OLQ (Officer Like Qualities) a candidate should possess?
Those who get selected or rejected have different reasons and opinions about their selection or rejection.
What do you, as a layman, think the SSBs look for in a candidate?

To become a Army Officer is the pride moment for any candidate and also to the country. So there are some definite rules which must be followed to have that position. Apart from basic qualification for eligibility which is must, the candidate should have great respect to the Nation and should have the zeal to protect the Nation from the clutches of enemy. The candidate should have the courage to safeguard himself and also have the knack to help others trapped in the enemy hands. Though hectic training would be provided at the camps once selected, what I feel that nothing can match the courage, the belonging and above all Desh Bakthi.
