Do you agree Sunday as holiday for petrol pumps in 8 states ?

The Modi government has taken decision that in eight states namely Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Haryana there would be no petrol or diesel available on Sundays to have control over the usage of fuel. But by leaving others states from this order the center is going to create hoarding and black marketing of fuel in the states where the closure would be imposed from 14th May. The hooligans would stock the petrol and diesel and sell the same in large quantities at higher prices on Sunday. Any comment ?

Any new decision by government taken with thinking of all prospect of life. Decision of Sunday being close day for petrol pump may bring some trouble to the people there is no doubt about it. Specially those who will travel long distance on weekend. People might be in rush to get petrol till late in the evening of Saturday. Hopefully, everything will become normal once people get used of it.

I do not agree Sunday as holiday for petrol pumps .

If pumps are closed, provision may be made for automatic vending of petrol and diesel; just like ATMs on bank holidays and after banking hours facility.

Suppose a lorry starting from Tamil Nadu and want to go to North has to pass through AP and TS. If the loory leaves Chennai on Saturday, it has to be stranded on Sunday either in AP or TS and thus waste of time for want of fuel.

The decision to shut down petrol pumps on Sundays has been taken by a section of the petrol pump operators and not by the central government as brought out by the author. They have taken this decision taking the cover of an appeal by our PM of not using fuel for a day in a week to help in cutting down our imports. The petroleum ministry has specifically come out against this decision and since a majority of the operators are not supporting this call, I don't think it will have any impact as such.
The author should have checked out facts before jumping into conclusions and raising this thread which is factually incorrect.

Whether the proposed shut down call was from Government or from private pump operators is not the question here. The public would be largely affected and the government must revert it.
