A Commendable Initiative by Kendriya Vidyalaya

Moving with the times, Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) has initiated a pilot project to teach science and mathematics using latest technology. As a pilot project, this initiative will cover about 2000 students studying in 25 regions with at least one school from each region. HRD Ministry will provide free tablets to the selected schools and prepare the teachers for implementing this project. There would be provisions for accessing the reading material online and also for submitting the assignments and getting evaluation done online. Another salient feature will be a provision to enhance learning experience through animation and videos, which, it is expected, will make mathematics and science more interesting for those who participate in this project.
The success of this pilot project will pave the way for introducing changes in future teaching methodology and will eliminate carrying the burden of books to school and back home. It may revolutionise the education system for present and future generations. Let us all welcome the initiative.

A very good initiative. This will improve the knowledge ot the teacher also. It is good that on line study in the school is going to be introduced at pilot project level. The responsibility of teacher increases. He has to see that students will use the facility properly.

In many of the offices we have internet now. Some of the employees will misuse to do social networking during the office hours. It will reduce the productivity. So the teachers should take care that only those sites required for their learning should get open.

If this project is successful, it will become a revolution in India.
Let us wait for the good feedback on this project.

Baffled over the progress of private schools and corporate schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya also seems to have braced up to face the competition. We know in some private schools the maths is taught in modern way and during primary studies they are introduced with abacus way of teaching. Good that new methods are churned out, otherwise the students would be out of competition and now they would be on par with the corporate school students. Nevertheless the HRD Ministry is taking good steps to bring good repute to KV 's as most of the armed forces personnel are depended on these schools for best teaching.

Dr. Srinivasa Rao expressed his apprehensions about misuse of the tablet for social networking during office hours. Out of curiosity i had a second look of the proposed initiative and could find only little information on the issue which suggests that KV Sangthan is working on firewall so that the tablets are not misused by students. I hope it may be help.

Today many organizations are going with IT in a big way. In this context the initiative of Kendriya Vidyalaya is really laudable.

It will definitely bring a new life to the existing stereo type of system where students have to go through long monotonous sessions.

Once the pilot project is successful we hope that it will be adopted by all of the schools so that similar level of educational system is available to all the students.

    Knowledge is power.
