The month of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. It is considered the most sacred month according to Islamic belief. Fasting during sunrise to sunset during Ramadan is considered one of the five tenets of Islam. The fist day of the next month of Shawwal is celebrated as Eid ul-Fitr .
Non-violence is the greatest Dharma; So too is all righteous violence.

Yes for the benevolent Muslims the Ramazaan month is the great period for self probing, retrospecting and above all mingling with the society to have peace and calm life ahead. During this holy month the Muslims would recite the Holy Quran and try follow the principles laid down in it. The haves will reach out to the have nots. It is surely the expensive festival as daily lots of money has to be spent on fruits and other items during iftaar. Those who are well settled can give grand Iftaar party to the people where they reside. So the whole month is the festival time for them. In Hyderabad after praying Namaz at late evening, they go for shopping spree and that includes tasting the famous Hyderabad Haleem. That is the reason being so the whole old city would alive during the nights too in the Holy Ramzaan month.

Lot of valuable information regarding Ramdan and it's main theme.

In many religions fasting is considered a method for cleaning of ones body. In fact a healthy body is the place of a healthy mind and modern science also advocates for control of food and consumption of natural food items in place of junk.

So whether it is a particular religion or modern science, they all talk same language. All roads lead to Rome.

It also indicates that all religions are born from the same old caveman and his society and it was only later that different religious leaders and politicians started showcasing their religion as the best in the world. That lead to confrontations and fights between different group without any fundamental difference. This enemity is still going on today and the intelligensia is helplessly watching it.

Any way let me not deviate from the main theme of the thread and wish all the members a very good time of Ramdan and hope prosperity in their life.

    Knowledge is power.

A very good time on Ramadan to all and wish them all the best and prosperity in their life. It is very nice to read and understand about this festival through this posting. All muslims follow this without fail. Hindus follow Karthika Masam, the 7th month as per lunar calendar. In this month some Hindus will observe fasting from sunrise to sunset.
After sunset they will see the moon and then take the food. Almost all religions have similar ways of celebrating. But In Hindu religion nowadays many are not following these festivals . But in Muslims 99% people if not 100% people will observe this fasting. They conduct their prayer as per the times decided. Wherever they are , there itself they conduct their prayers. This discipline is not there in other religions. Everybody should learn from them.

    always confident
