Should there be a separate flag for the state ? Karnataka is going ahead with this proposal.

We all know that India is the country of so many states and Union territories which unitedly make our nation proud with one National flag and the states are authorized to hoist the National flag at strategic places and public offices. But Karnataka government has raked up the issue of having their own state flag and that has now created controversy. Why because during the Republic day and Independence day they may insist to hoist their flag instead of National flag. What is your view on this. What is the necessity of having their own state flag ?

No. That will divide the country. We should not allow it.

Karnataka should avoid confrontation with the center and desist from having separate flag for their state.

I strongly condemn the thought of it.
Why, what is the need of it. Can't we celebrate our nationality first and above every difference we have.

One country- one tax. one country- one flag. It is to be followed. No state can have separate flag. It is National Flag. Not state flag. Karnataka government should change its ways and should have good relations with Central government and see that will give them a good support . Absolutely there is no need for any state to have its own flag

Such leaders are called National antagonists. People of such state and localities never trust them as one day they can sell their own motherland for anything. Such kind of political issues are raising every year just to curve the current system or government. These are completely useless, meaningless and ridiculous acts. The days in our history, where some Kings and Zamindars dealt everything to British and Mughals; now what these politicians are doing.

I take the issue little differently. Some of the so-called leadeers are saying that the Constitution has not mentioned anything in this regard. So separate flag for a state is legitimate. If this is so, then why there was no such demand during UPA regime? This demand is solely to create problem for the present Central Government. These short-sighted political leaders are crossing every limit. However, people are now aware and understand the motive of such political leaders.

Congress is going to lose Karnataka in the next election.

Under the legal and constitutional rules and regulation if a separate flag for a state is allowed then there is no point in opposing this proposal.

The problem will come later in the practical part that in which functions and occasions this flag is to be hoisted. There can be a clash with national flag hoisting also and that situation is to be avoided.

I think the decision will be commensurate with the integrity and unity of the country for such a critical matter as hoisting of national flag. We should not be so selfish that to gain popularity at state level we should ignore the national pride. There are some leaders who adopt cheap tactics to get unprecedented things done during their term but in long run it is neither beneficial for the public nor the country.
