If China claims Tawang on religious grounds, why can't India claim Mount Kailash on same ground?

China claims that Tawang is culturally and religiously related to Tibet. It says even fifth Dalai Lama was born here and hence it should be part of China. If that is the case then both Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are religiously and culturally related to India. If China claims Tawang on religious grounds, why can't India claim Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar on the same ground?

Yes the author has raised the right issue at the right time when China has now become the nuisance on daily basis and posting to be threat more than Pakistan now. India being the biggest Hindu country in the world should assert and annexe the Mount Kailash and Manasarovar lake in the China region to be in the integral part of India. The name itself suggests that Chinese has no right nor claim the both as their own and UN must intervene in this matter and give the places to India with smooth transition so that pilgrims need not have the security problem visiting the above two religious places.

The basic premise of the question is wrong. China's demand on Arunachal Pradesh including Tawang has almost nothing to do with religion, simply because the country is ruled by non-believing communists. China wants to expand on east, west, north, south everywhere. Religion is not the issue in this expansion.

Moreover, Kailash-Mansarovar is located in Tibet which was earlier a sovereign state. The Chinese attacked and captured it in the fifties, and the then Prime Minister of India supported tthe annexation of Tibet by China. The author could read history of Tibet and Dalai Lama. (Although many people don't like History, as is being discussed in another thread, History is very important to understand the issue in correct perspective.)

I also agree with the author. There is nothing wrong in India claiming Mountain Kailash and Manasarovar. Both these are culturally and Religiously more relate?? to India by all means.Indoan Government should approach UNO and try for these places. Internationally no one can take objection for it. Once we have these places with us our people going there will become more easy.

    But Partha sir,
Mr. Dai Bingguo, China's former top diplomat, in his latest interview told that "The border dispute between India and China can be resolved if India accepts China's claim over strategically important Tawang region in Arunachal Pradesh". That means they just want Tawang instead of whole Arunachal Pradesh.

Mr. Bhuvan: Please let me give some details. Tawang has a beautiful, old and historical monastry, which was, when Tibet was independent, the seat of Panchen Lama. Now, the present Panchen Lama has been under the custody of the Chinese and very few people know about his actual condition. Now, If Chinese could capture Towang, the annexation of Tibet by them would gain more legitimacy. Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi understood Chinese game-plan and she had started making Tawang militarily strong by raising a new Corps (3 Corps at Dimapur) beside original 33 Corps (Siliguri) and 4 Corps (Tezpur). In this way she to some extent neutralised the blunder committed by her father regarding Tibet.

(As I am not well, I can't write more. The matter should be discussed in details)

India is a peaceful country and doesn't want to expand country or want to occupies other country place. He wants peaceful relations with the neighbors. India is a democratic country while In china is a Communist country they want to expand more and more as Russia and America wants in olden times. India wants peaceful relations as we see the India deals with Bangladesh India swaps more land to Bangladesh while he can transfer more land as India is more powerful but India doesn't want to fear small country while China fears all its neighboring with its power. He has land disputes with all its neighboring countries like japan, Vietnam, Australia, India, Bhutan etc.
