Hockey win for India - and for shooters too - hurrah!

Team India won the bronze medal in the Hockey World League Final (HWLF), defeating Germany 2-1. With just a few minutes left for the end of play, Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal. Though the opponents' team were riddled with injury-prone players not taking to the field, it should not be considered an easy win for India. They did have a tough time against the attacking Germans.

In Japan, at the 10th Asian Championship of Rifle & Pistol competition, Jitu Rai bagged the bronze in the men's pistol event, thus ensuring a gold medal for India in the team event. Heena Sidhu also bagged a bronze in her pistol event, with the team winning the silver.

These wins overshadowed the disastrous loss to Sri Lanka in cricket today.

Yes its mixed day for Indian sports. It is really a great victory over Germany in Hockey. It is always challenging to play against Germany.
But it is very sad that India lost against Sri Lanka in first ODI.

    Honesty is the best policy.

In hockey, we have won the bronze medal defeating Germany. Earlier India lost to Britain in the semifinal. Bronze is a consolation prize.

However, Jeetu Rai and Hina Sidhu have done well in their respective categories (shooting). Congratulations to them.

So far as cricket is concerned, India had to bat first after losing the toss. The misty weather at Dharamshala expectedly caused problem to Indian batsmen who batted first. At the initial stage, India's score was terrible; later Dhoni managed to restore some respect to the score. Sri Lanka won comfortably.

Glad to hear about our performance in hockey and the shooting events. Such wins at the world level are certainly laudable and a great achievement that makes us proud. Congratulations to the winners in both events. Losing to Srilanka will always be sad but at least now the team can start to come into shape.

It is good that Indian Hockey team did well and obtained the bronze medal. It is good that we are in the top three at least. Good performance by the team.
Similarly, our shooters also did well and we should congratulate them for their good performance. It is nice the chances of winning gold is still there for our country in these events.
As far as cricket is concerned it has gone wrong before the game started. We should have won the toss. But we lost it. It has made all the difference. The old hero Dhoni brought some respect to the score. Otherwise, it might have become the lowest ever score. Let us hope the team will do well in the remaining two one day matches and will win the series.
