It is a different concept altogether. Taking the boy riding a cycle the author created the story and a good story. All the bad qualities of Rajan have gone with the sudden expiry of the mother which indicates the greatness of mother. She died to bring in a good change in his son. I feel it a good moral story.

The story as narrated by you ends with a tragic note where the mother could not tolerate the excesses of her son. The son changed of course but at a very late stage. The incident highlighted by you would prove to be a common story in the Indian middle class families where the parents lack time for normal conversation with their kids because of their occupations. The kids may feel dejected and insecured and the end - result is full of pathos as we witnessed in your tragic story.

The author made the right bid to convince the readers that life is the cycle and it rotates with good and bad situation now and then and gives us much challenge time to cope up.

A practical narration similar to what we hear about young offenders often in the papers. I don't see a direct mention of the green cycle and the rider. The reader should imply from the title that it's a cycle of bad and good as it happens in life and relate to the cycle in the picture.
