Today, it is world health day.

The World Health Day is a global health awareness day. The World Health Day is one of the eight official health campaigns which are marked by the World Health Organization. The other seven are World Tuberculosis Day, World Immunization Week, World Malaria Day, World No Tobacco Day, World AIDS Day, World Blood Donor Day, and World Hepatitis Day. The first World Health Day was observed in 1948 by the WHO. Since then, 7th April is observed as the World Health Day every year. This year, the theme is Universal Health Coverage (UHC): everyone, everywhere. My best wishes for all the members of ISC a happy world health day and wish them the best health throughout the year.

I came to know about the 'World Health Day' today by seeing full page advertisements published in the morning newspapers. Other than that there was no pre-intimation about this great day. Now I am celebrating this day by posting my response on this thread.

We will have to agree that in general our awareness about health related issues remain in sleep mode till we are cornered by certain ailment to visit a doctor. Other than that we generally talk only about the prevailing malpractices in the health administration systems - be it in public sector or the private sector.

Corrupt practices are prevailing in both the sectors. The private hospitals are charging abnormally and going to the extent of performing avoidable surgeries also and in the public sector hospitals corrupt practices have become an integral part of the system.

Let us encourage each other in sharing knowledge.

It is good to see that we are celebrating World Health Day today. We can see that practices are done in the private and government hospitals, where the patient is given the wrong medicine which hurts them and their family. We have seen many mismanagement in the hospitals, as most of them do not give a reply to such unethical practices happening there. Even the salesmen duty is to market the medicines in Hospitals and most of them give expired medicines and gain more money by putting the lives of patients at risk. Doctor's need to have some ethical values to their professions. We can see that in every small and corner of the place, many hospitals coming up and it is going to have more health issues for people. We must go back to our old traditional way of curing and must learn how to cure diseases which happen frequently to us.
"Earning knowledge is by sharing it with ISC and we will rectify our mistakes."

The celebration of world health day must start from our home. Because our health is based on what we eat at home first, then what we eat from outside. Our habit of eating home made food is reducing. Most of the time we go out for eating due to various reasons. By that action we invite certain unhealthy elements into our system through this food. Of course there can be some in the food we eat at home too since the food is prepared using different raw materials bought from the market. However we can reduce the same by washing beforehand.
Our daily life also must be planned in such a way that we get sufficient bodily exercise, drink sufficient water, take needed rest, the intake food contain necessary healthy contents and such other necessary things needed for a good living. The idea is to keep diseases away such that no need for hospitals or such medical facilities.

Glad to know that World health day has been celebrated across the world today and that would enable every one to keep informed about the changes in the life, new diseases and how to cope up. Some hospitals in Hyderabad are offering master full body check up for 2000 rupees only and that was valid for today only. And the TS government has started the Mohalla clinics in Hyderabad at various places on the lines of Kejriwals street clinics which were instant success. So we need not go to the private consultancies who were charging heavy. Now government doctors are available at these clinics for free.

Glad to see this thread on World Health Day! The theme is apt to today's global disparity in health among nations and within the nation itself. Universal health coverage for all is a very simple sounding yet a herculean task which needs plenty of co-operation, fundings, and sharing of resource and knowledge. Wishing the WHO and all the nations the very best in implementing this unique and relevant theme.
