Atrocities against women. Who is culpable, our menfolk at home? society? a tame police/judiciary?
We have been having a string of henious crimes against women and girl children being happening in various parts of the country. Most of use are angered, we have forwarded messages 'justice for Asifa", some would have gone to the candle lit protests. Without going into details, let's introspect ourselves and see why this is happening.
Every crime has a motive, a deviant mind and a deterrent that can prevent it. Sometime back, I read a Japanese quote which goes like ' the society lays the ground for the crime, the criminal just walks (executes) the path (crime)'.
Is it our patriarchal and suppressible attitude towards women? or has to society failed to have adequate measures for protection of our women and children? is the police force/judiciary tame like a toothless tiger which is not a deterrent to the ones's who commit the crime?
It looks as if we need to introduce a chapter on how to respect women in the curriculum of the middle school itself?
