SC orders Karnataka Assembly Floor Test by 4 PM tomorrow

The Supreme Court gave a clear verdict regarding the case filed against the swearing in ceremony of Mr.Yeduyurappa of BJP. The SC ordered Mr.Yeduyrappa to prove his majority by tomorrow 4PM in the Assembly. So the opposition got some justice where the government called BJP to form the govt. which has no way can get magic figure by ethical methods unless they have to go in a wrong way.

The order of the Supreme Court is like a slap in the face. Whatever may be the result of the floor test tomorrow, it is obvious that steps to subvert the democracy were taken and luckily the Apex Court stepped in to stop it. The people behind the treachery stop at nothing to get their result. Hope their efforts fall flat and the democracy will be saved.

Good that SC has intervened in this issue and rest assured all the parties will abide by the rule and out come of it. Now the luck must smile on BSY otherwise other alternate government would be installed.

It is a good step by SC and it shows prudence and maturity on their part as unnecessary delaying the floor test will give an opportunity for horse trading.

SC knows that politicians can go to any extent for making the Govt of their party and if sufficient time is given them they will find new and novel means to get the support from the greedy ones ready to change sides on getting favours.

    Knowledge is power.

  • #636593
Congress and JD(S) went to Supreme Court at midnight to stay the oath-taking of the new Government. The Supreme Court flatly refused to do so. It has only directed to hold the floor-test within 24 hours instead of 360 hours (15 days).

But that is not a slap in the face of Congress! On the other hand, if the Supreme Court does not rule in favour of Congress, then the Congress President compares it with the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Just like the Congress President, the supporters of the party are also childish.

The "Awesome Twosome" is now short of time. Let us wait and see what drama will be enacted now. I do not underestimate the BJP. They are master manipulators with proven success in Goa, Manipur, and Meghalaya. What all they require is one seat to play havoc.

The SC has done something good to see that the horseplay will not go for long. The Congress MLAs from Hyderabad and JD(S) MLAs from Cochin has to go back to Bangalore by tomorrow and attend the Assembly. I don't think Mr Yadurappa will have sufficient time to pull some MLAs from other parties. Most probably he will try to see that some MLAs from opposition parties may get absent from assembly. Another important aspect to note is they asked the CM not to take any decision of importance till the majority is proved. The democracy in India can prevail if at least these courts interfere and do some good acts. How the rule will differ from state o state is another question to be answered. But these type of practices were happening earlier also. Now BJP is also sailing in the same type of boat.

The Big slap is already given to the Congress face by the public of Karnataka, when they lost the majority Government, not only that their so called popular CM himself lost the seat and confidence after and before counting the votes. The Idol and honest congress party first fought the election against JDS, accused them "B" team of BJP and the same Congress joined the hand like a deep lover to form the government?

What Governor did was seeing the situation and ask the largest party to form the government. It is totally different if the BJP could show up the majority or not. It looked difficult for them so far. However, for those people for whom the democracy was dying, a big relief. Let see How Congress and JDS manipulate to let alive the Indian democracy.

  • #636612
Hope so that now onwards the leftards will respect our jurisdiction & the constitution too which hasn't been the case so far. The Congress party President has also compared our system to that of Pakistan during his speech in Chhattisgarh. So & although not expecting him to apologize but would certainly will at least appreciate of some improvement.

BS YEDDI will lose the CM seat tomorrow at 4 p.m is the breaking news for all of us. RIP YEDDI, REDDY BRO'S, Sushma Swaraj, Shah, Modi...

What is the justification of the Governor's action in the above states?

  • #636634
#636628: The answers are as under:-

    1. Inviting a party or a coalition in case of hung Parliament/Assembly is the discretionary power of the President/Governor.
    2. The Governors of Manipur, Goa, Meghalaya and Karnataka are different individuals.

In the case of hung Parliament, the discretionary power lies with the President of India. The Governors of all the above-mentioned States are different individuals with a single mission.

@636627: In my personal opinion it will be "Reign or Resign" for Mr. Yeddyurappa. Reign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka by somehow managing the numbers. The other option is to try until the last minute and resign before taking the floor test.

  • #636655
The third alternative is there and there is no doubt about BJP stooping low to that extent. This will also be challenged in the court of law. The BJP wants to be in power by any means and if not possible it will try to block the other democratically elected governments. This is also in a way good for the country as this party BJP stands exposed naked before the people of our country and the entire world. In 'Panchatantra', there is a saying that when the bad days approach, the people will resort to all illegal methods disregarding the public opinion. The party will pay for its arrogance and once that happens it will be erased from the country. Until such time the people have to suffer.

"In 'Panchatantra', there is a saying that when the bad days approach, the people will resort to all illegal methods disregarding the public opinion."-After long last, I fully agree with the author. In utter disregard of public opinion, Rahul Gandhi-led Congress is resorting to all illegal methods including even blackmailing the judiciary, even by comparing judiciary with the judiciary of God-forsaken Pakistan.

It has been reported that eight Congress and two JD(S) MLAs are backing the BJP in the floor test tomorrow. I don't know about the veracity of the information.

A very prominent BJP leader has stated: "We are ready for the floor test tomorrow. Supreme Court's judgment upholds Constitution, previous precedents and quashes Congress's opportunistic politics. We have trounced Congress in elections, it won't be any different on the floor of the House!"

Non-violence is the greatest Dharma; So too is all righteous violence.

  • #636668
There is another option also which the BJP may resort to. It is creating disturbance in the assembly and getting an adjournment.
" Be Good and Do Good "

  • #636675
Glad that the SC has intervened and reduced the majority proving time to less than 24 hours because none in Karnataka was to have the notorious tag to the state for such irregularities. It is going to be tough for BJP because the time is very short. All today, we have been getting forwards of 'Horse' trading for a 'Stable' government.
There would be intense behind the scenes negotiations, the JD(S) and Congress MLAs are being held at virtual resort arrest. I hope it is settled amicably because if not, then we would be looking at President's rule in Karnataka. Whatever the outcome, the irony of the Karnataka elections is that none of the three parties within their hearts can claim a moral victory.

  • #636696
Is there any provision in the Constitution of India to extend time frame to prove majority from 24hrs to 30 days…..6 months ….1year…or even 5 years so that Yediyurappa can complete his 5 year term!!!
Otherwise, President/Governor can use their discretionary powers!!

Anyway, Good luck to Yediyurappa for the '4 O Clock thriller'!!

  • #636700
Well, whatever happen , happen for good. It is to be seen at 4 PM that how the thing turn on. Whether BJP will gain or the JDS, the time only can tell it.

However, the way some responses are made here tell the true story. The long longing for Victory, keep getting rejected by people of this country, the said party keep going lower and lower, the frustration of losing, the frustrations of losing faith from the people of this country. It is obvious that anyone can get mental trauma from such situations. When some people need calmness and patience, they show their frustrations in social media platform.

My full sympathy on such people. May God give them strength to over come from such situations.

  • #636706
Yes, it is the great BJP that is going to get its reputation ruined for ever. It has no right to point fingers at the Congress, as its own record in ethical politics is so bad, with its master manipulator, the great Amit Shah, doing the party more bad than good, at all times.

The BJP has never been a great party. It rode to power, only because people were fed up with the scandals during the Congress regime. Yet, in the past four years, apart from squeezing the middle class, the BJP has had nothing to show in terms of results for the common man.

We can define the common man as one who is earning leas than six thousand in the urban areas and seven thousand in the metros and five thousand in the rural areas. It is these people who regularly vote for the big parties and get cheated every single time.

Yes, the BJP will do anything before 4PM, but Independent India will witness one of the dirtiest scenes in the Karnataka Assembly, for all times to come. It remains to be seen as to what will happen to the State, even if the BJP is somehow able to prove its majority, through the most unethical means possible.

  • #636707
If at all at 4 PM BJP could show up their majority and retain the Government, I think if the first ethical question which should thrown at any party, it would be JDS and Congress because without their MLA support, there is no way BJP will win. However, before pointing out finger to anyone, this is the high time for Congress and its supporter to look for the future and think deeply as where they went wrong so that they could not even save their Government in Karnataka. A once largest National party should accept the verdict of people instead of blaming their lose to other political party.

  • #636708
One difference in this drama is BJP is not sequestrating it's party MLAs, in contrast the JD(S) and the Congress MLAs are all closely monitored and guarded. To some it sounds like the Congress and JD(S) is unable to trust their own members. All it would take is for the leaders to say, stick to the party and votes of the coalition and we will sail through but there is such high drama to resorts, plan to fly to Kochi and then bus travel to Hyderabad. It seems that the leaders are worried about their own numbers.

  • #636710
If BJP wins the floor test at 4 p.m., they will vilify BJP. If BJP loses, they will ridicule BJP. This is classic ''Head I win, Tail you lose.''

But common people clearly understand the devilish and dubious game of Congress and JD(S).

Non-violence is the greatest Dharma; So too is all righteous violence.

  • #636713
During the last four years the BJP has done so worst in its performance that still the numbers are going upwards In every elections. And even though the PM Modi is just talking nonsense but still his popularity & understanding among people & even in abroad remains at a high altitude.

As per my experience & understanding both can't be true at one particular point of time. So how I manipulate the overall performance is mine business & understanding & if this makes me feel better & delighted then again is mine business & understanding. So let this be the case & rest would become the history.

  • #636715
Now it is time to throw away the corrupt parties and their blind supporters who dare to ridicule logical people as 'Bhakts'.

    Breaking news!

Yediyurappa instructed all party members to be ready for celebration at 5pm!!

  • #636729
Just over an hour before the floor test, the local media is hinting that BS Yeddyurappa would give an emotional speech and resign before the trust vote as numbers are getting difficult to get.

  • #636732
BS Yeddyurappa, BJP has resigned, no floor test.

Mr.Bhushan, your advance obituary came out true. The floor test was scheduled for 4.00 PM, at a time when the Sun starts setting. There was no possibility of the saffron Sun rising at this time in Karnataka.

I don't get the idea about how the combination of JDS + Congress, is going to make any difference to the state's issues. I know it's a matter of some time that the differences of both would soon come to the surface & the said alliance would soon end up in nowhere.

This BJP had done well in the election but some bad luck. Sometimes it is good to have a break in order to do far better in the future.

So with this the suspense has ended & we can now proceed with some other matter.

  • #636742
What Yeddyurappa did was nothing to feel pain or insult of. He resign the post because he didn't have the majority seats. However, the Karnataka people verdict were clear that they didn't want congress Government and that is why the Government lose their majority is something to deeply think about the secular Congress.

Before election, the congress were against JDS, accusing them that they are the "B" team of BJP. But the same congress when joined hand with JDS, the JDS become secular. The most important part is the largest party Congress is "supporting" JDS? Why not they have their own CM? It is clear that they want to have the Government anyway and anyhow. The history of JDS and Congress is well known to everyone, it is only to be seen that how long this love relationship continue. And how good Government they can provide is all to be seen.

However, congratulations to Congress and JDS.

  • #636746
God has saved Democracy in India, in the form of the Supreme Court of India. That the corrupted Yeddyurappa had to resign even before the floor test, is ample proof that all the threats, offers or whatever, did not hold water in Karnataka.

The BJP has now got to wait for another five years. The corrupted Kumarasamy is likely to play to the gallery and also take up some populist schemes to remain in power. He is not a great leader at all. However, the Gowdas seem to have built a base some sections of the population of Karnataka, which makes them kingmakers.

Let us only hope that Kumarasamy does not treat the Congress like dirt, threatening them that he would align with the BJP and create a Bihar like situation. Already, Mr Nitish Kumar, who is still a very honest leader and streets ahead of the corrupted Kumarasamy, has lost a lot of credibility by going to the BJP for support.

Let Kumarasamy not act like an idiot and spoil all his chances. Let him take the Congress along in every major decision, like the Cauvery issue.

Karnataka is in for some very exiting times. That the corrupted CM of two days is gone and that the BJP has had to lick its own wounds, is a very good news for the Congress, that can now focus on all the minuses of the BJP and try to build a big base throughout the country. It can still get this done, as the anger against the BJP is now increasing day after day.

  • #636747
What seems to be entertaining here is the numbers that JDS (37) + Congress (78), in combined makes up to the magic figure of 115, just exceeding the required mandate of 112 seats. So we find here with no big difference & a slight changes will make them on to the other side facilitating the BJP to go with its strategy by adding more to its side.

So wait & watch because the movies has just begun.

  • #636748
    @636715:
What you have wished materialised. The corrupt party and its illogical supporters ran away before the floor test without being driven away.

Well, the so called most honest and secular party is supporting a third level party and their CM. Says the entire future as how the Karnataka will be served. The CM and deputy CM, the cabinet and other important factor has to be watched by these so called honest people and their honest supporter. The Congress has not alone the win the majority but they have to compromise it to be in the Government.

Hope the Karnatak people are not fool and they will revert back with the time and again.

  • #636772
Nothing to be worried! There is no scope for disappointment. Within six months, the unholy alliance of these fat politicians will break, elections will be held in the state.

In the next election, Saffron Sun will definitely rise in Karnataka and all over India.

Mr. Bhushan: As I can't write poem, I am quoting a beautiful poem:-

"Yeh sitam ki raat hai dhalne ko
Hai andhera gham ka pighalne ko
Zara der is mein lage agar
    Na udaas ho mere hamsafar''

    ''Nahi rehane wali ye mushkilein
Yeh hain agle mod pe manzilein
Meri baat ka tu yaken kar
    Na udaas ho mere hamsafar''

''Yeh safar bahut hai kathin magar
    Na udaas ho mere hamsafar''

The translation will destroy the beauty of flowery Urdu, even then I am trying.

''The terrible night will be over
The blackness of night will be over
It may take some more time
Oh my fellow-travelers (comrades), don't get disheartened.

    These difficulties won't remain
Our destination is at the next crossing
    Have faith in my words
Oh my fellow-travelers (comrades), don't get disheartened.

This journey is very tough, (but)
Oh my fellow-travelers (comrades), don't get disheartened.''

Saffron Sun will definitely rise all over India.
