According to me the caste system in india was help full for the poor people's to improve their education, life style and their status in the country. At the same time some of the other caste poor people's are affected because of the caste system. For example if an oc candidate is an poor man he have to struggle a lot because he did not get any offers like sc and st candidates. For sc and st candidates most of the government organizations providing education at free of cost or half of the cost . This will be help full for only to sc and st candidates and not for the poor oc candidate. Also because of reservations in the seat allocations of educational institutions the oc candidate scoring high percentage may loss the seat on the other hand the st or sc candidate who got low mark can get seat . so according to me the reservation should be maintained according to their merit. This comparison is only for expressing my opinion and not to oppose or irritate any candidate .

caste system in india has both merits and demerits. Dr.b.r amedber had worked hard for reserving seats for backward classes which is genarally mean for poor but now many rich familly's also gets benefit of this reservation as their forefathers belong that backward status.caste system also leads to poor politics.the party leaders appeal in the name of caste to fetch votes from a particular caste.

absolutely the caste system does not help India to shine.Caste-related violence is one of the dangers in India. Independent India has witnessed considerable amount of violence and hate crimes motivated by caste. Ranbir Sena, a caste-supremacist fringe paramilitary group based in Bihar, has committed violent acts against Dalits and other members of the scheduled caste community. Phoolan Devi, who belonged to Mallah lower-caste, was mistreated and raped by upper-caste Thakurs at a young age. She then became a bandit and carried out violent robberies against upper-caste people. In 1981, her gang massacred twenty-two Thakurs, most of whom were not involved in her kidnapping or rape.
Over the years, various incidents of violence against Dalits, such as Kherlanji Massacre have been reported from many parts of India. Caste based politics are too dangerous. Till the mid-1970s, the politics of independent India was largely dominated by economic issues and questions of corruption. But since 1980s, caste has emerged as a major issue in the Politics of India. The Mandal Commission was established in 1979 to "identify the socially or educationally backward", and to consider the question of seat reservations and quotas for people to redress caste discrimination. In 1980, the commission's report affirmed the affirmative action practice under Indian law whereby members of lower castes were given exclusive access to a certain portion of government jobs and slots in public universities. When V. P. Singh Government tried to implement the recommendations of Mandal Commission in 1989, massive protests were held in the country. Many alleged that the politicians were trying to cash in on caste-based reservations for purely pragmatic electoral purposes. In Andhrapradesh violence is going on for categerization of Scheduled castes. So with these eactors we can undoubtedly say that caste system does not help India to develop.Let us try to eradicate the entire caste system in India.

Your are right prabhakar, I think no need of the caste system it will be a barrier to the development of our country. Instead of caste system they can provide reservations for the poor people and rural area students . we had seen a lot of violence dangers in the caste system. why we need such a dangerous caste system?. Even now some people are hate against other communities and motivate others to mistreat them. So we dont need such a caste system which leads to violence and other illegal activities and killing peoples.

I don't think there is anything wrony in haveing caste resevtion for education. It is initatiaves like this that would help them come up in life.If you had taken a look at the anna university rankings you will understand the level of competions.SC/ST students do not study in any well recognised schools, they study in ordinary schools which most of the time would lack essential requirements. How do you expect them to study if some seats are not alloted to them?Don't you think it is unfair on our part if we ask them to compete with regular students. They are not financial stable also to buy a management seat.

The Indian caste system has been in use for many years. Still today the values of the caste system are held strongly. It has kept a sense of order, and peace among the people. There are five different levels of the system: Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra, and Harijans. Within each of these categories are the actual "castes" or jatis within which people are born, marry, and die. They all have their own place among each other and accept that it is the way to keep society from disintegrating to chaos. This system has worked well for Indian people and still has a major role in modern India.

It is surely a tough and a good question. I think it is good to introduce caste reservation as long as it is within limits. But the limits are being breached every single day. When there is almost 70% reservation for castes, there are only 30% left for the general category which constitutes the major population. There is coming a day when there will be no jobs available for the general category because of the reservation.

Hi Friends ..
Great responses from you all people .. in my view caste system should help people only the reserved candidates who are poor and not in a postion to study .. but now a days every one is using this and getting seat in the universities, and making a genuine candidate from other unreserved caste to loose the oppurtunity, govt. has to take measures to reserve the seats who are poor by without considering the caste .. Dr.Ambedkar strived hard to provide reservation for the poor people from sc/st caste but now the situation is different .. poor people from any caste have right to get reservation in any university or college provided if he has good merit ..
INDIA is shining now but making some small changes in the govt. rules can make INDIA brighter ..
what do you say friends ...
