Let take the value of business = x
Then the man owns 2/3 of the market research business = 2x/3
He sells 3/4 of his shares for rs.75000 then
2x/3 * 3/4 = 75000
2x/4 = 75000
2x= 300000
x=150000
so the value of the business is 150000

Sol. According to question, man had (2/3)rd of value of business.
he sold (3/4)th of (2/3)rd of value of business at Rs. 75000
let his value of business is "x"
=> he owned = (2/3)x
=> he sold = (3/4) of (2/3)x
i.e. = (6/12)x = (1/2)x
: (1/2)x = 75000 or
x = Rs. 150000
thus , "the value of business is Rs. 150000"

Let x be the total market share.
Then the man had 2x/3 share.
He sold 3/4 of his share for 75000.
2x/3 * 3/4 = 75000 => x/2 = 75000
x = 150000
Total market share is 150000 and the man's share was 100000
