Chetan Cheetah! Always a fighter

Yesterday I raised a thread on the raising day of CRPF. Today I am going to write about a great and gallant member of this prestigious force.

Chetan Cheetah! The name creates terror in the heart of the hardened terrorists of the Kashmir valley. He was the Commanding Officer (CO) of the 45th Battalion of CRPF. The Battalion has been involved in many anti-insurgency operations in the valley. As the CO of the Battalion, Chetan Cheetah became a legend within the forces and terror to the terrorists.

On 14th February, 2017, Chetan cordoned off an area in Hajin (Bandipora). Two terrorists were reported to be hiding there. But in actuality, the number was more. They were armed with AK-47s and URGLs. In the operation, Cheetah was terribly wounded. His arms were fractured, bullets pierced his abdomen, he sustained injuries in his pelvic regions, his skull was fractured and his eyes were hit by an explosion. But he managed to kill the LeT commander. His own chance of survival was less than 1%.

He was immediately admitted to a Srinagar Hospital where he was given medications to stop bleeding. Thereafter he was transferred to AIIMS, New Delhi in an air ambulance.

In AIIMS, one portion of his skull was removed within 12 hours of his admission, He underwent several surgeries. Ultimately, he went into the coma.

But the fighter in him continued fighting. He astonished the best doctors in the country and came out of the coma. And not only that, he was finally discharged on 5th April, 2017.

Salute to the great warrior of CRPF! Presence of such gallant soldiers has made CRPF a great para-military force of the country.
