Lets manufacture buses with bio toilets like trains

Of late, some private buses and even the so-called Deluxe buses of the Tamil nadu Government, seem to be having toilets. However, there were immediate complaints ( as usual!!) in the case of the Government buses. Henceforth, there should be a law that all buses should be manufactured with bio toilets.

In the bio toilet, one is given to understand that the bacteria eats away all the human waste and the water evaporates in the heat generated. All railway tracks are now clean, thanks to the initiative of the Railways.

Why not try this even for buses that ply during day time? After all, very old people and very small children find it very difficult to answer calls of nature. The motels that the buses stop in, are so dirty and have open spaces as urinals. The women suffer so much.

We should implement this bio toilet in all buses. What do members have to say on this?

Not all the buses. It would be ideal to have bio toilets in long distance buses with long hours of journey only. Local and city buses need not to have it. Buses provided with toilet facility should be maintained well by the bus owners. Since the space is limited and congested, the back seaters might not like a toilet behind their seat. Further, there should be many government run comfort stations on the national highways one each for every 25 kilometers stretch for the road travellers to be comfortable. This is what required to have a 'Clean India'

On an experimental basis, I understand some KSRTC buses flying between Hyderabad and Bangalore are provided with this facility. I don't know the feedback about the arrangement of these buses. As mentioned by SUN I think long distance buses can be provided with this facility. But the important point is the maintenance. If they are not maintained properly a lot of smell will come and it will become difficult for the people to sit on the bus. Bio-toilets may be a good answer for this. But these toilets also require good cleaning and maintenance. If these points are taken care of providing these toilets on the bus may be a good idea. On the highways, public toilets near all the toll gates with pay and use mode can be arranged so that people travelling on long-distance buses can use this facility and open urination will be avoided. That will make the roads and roadsides clean and tidy. The awareness among the people is increasing and they will definitely use these facilities is provided on the way. They don't mind paying a little for that.
