New restriction in Resource section

We found that some members are repeatedly posting non qualified resources, thus leading to lot of extra work for our editors. So we are adding a new restriction in the resources section.

If 3 or more of your resources are rejected that you submitted in last 7 days, you will not be able to post new resources.

Our system will automatically check for last 7 days and see if 3 or more of your resources in last 7 days are deleted. If you have more than 3 rejected, you may have to wait couple of days to post new resource.

For example, consider this scenario:

You posted a resource on 1 July and got rejected. Then you got another one rejected on 3 July and a third one rejected on 6 July. Now, if you attempt to post a resource on 7 July, our system will not allow you. The next date you can post a new resource is 8 July because when our system checks for last 7 days, there are only 2 resources rejected in last 7 days.

Update: the restriction is changed to 5 rejections in last 5 days

Very good work, Tony. This will surely reduce the number of people posting copied resources. This step will lead to posting of genuine and quality content in IndiaStudyChannel. This will surely reduce the workload on us(I prefer not to say burden). Thanks again Tony for this move.

Hi Tony,

Wonderful decision. But whether the same rule will be applicable for the admission notifications too. If a admission notification which already exists is posted by mistake whether that will alo be rejected and will be counted in this category or not. Or only cash credit will not be given. Kindly guide me.

Best One for controlling unwanted things. I also today posted some questions in the general. That has been now deleted. Sorry for the inconvenience. Now I understand the importance of the things going on...

Yes, it is a nice idea because it is not just posting jargons that matters but good and valuable materials that will be useful to the member of this great educational portal. Well done! the management team because is not easy to manage this gigantic repository of data.

Good work Tony! This will encourage users to avoid posting copied content. I think users should also be given warning like' Your 4 resources have already been rejected, If you post 1 more non-qualified resource you will be banned for few days'. This will help the members know the stauts of their resources.

It is really a very good method and also very efficient in blocking the unwanted things .The resources should be related to the material. There should me some filters so that user should know some any information before downloading or uploading of objects,
Carry on Tony...
With best wishes

This is a good and effective way to control those who keep writing unnecessary stuff. A resource should cater to the needs of other members who can benefit from it. If copied contents are trying to find some space here they must be deleted and this results in our editors spending extra time and energy in detecting and deleting them.
A punishment in this form should deter those who spam here.

Author: Raghav    09 Aug 2008Member Level: DiamondRating:     Points: 5
Very good Tony,
Definitely this will reduce unnecessary stuff to be loaded into the site and also help editors to do some other useful work for the site. Also people will stop copying from other sites because of this restriction. Instead of 7 days, you should have made it 15 days and the member should not be allowed to post any resource until another 15 days after deletion of 3rd resource. So that there will be a gap of 1 month if some one spams. Let us implement the same in www.DotnetSpider.com website also. I hope you will consider my suggestion.

Raghav

This is a nice move to maintain the quality but one doubt remains that how we can consider which resource is useful and which is a crap.
