There aren't any disadvantages but there are problems. When you appear for the SAT in June, then you are eligible only for admissions during Spring in the universities at US but the problem is that most universities do not have a provision for a Spring term and thus you have to wait for the next year to apply for the Fall term and that means a total time waste. If you are in 12th, then give your exam before mid-November. Register for the November test so that you can apply directly for the Fall term.
Do give the addresses of the universities shortlisted by you during registration for SAT so that the official scores are sent directly to the universities. If you need any more help, you can contact me.
