As per the notification GSR 417(E)dated 30th may,2008 the Central govt.has revised the rules relating to "Smoking in public places" and already we came to know about this.
here is the SMOKING REALITY

*INDIA IS HOME TO NEARLY 12 CRORE SMOKERS
*AT PRESENT 9 LAKH PEOPLE DIE EVERY YEAR DUE TO TOBACCO RELATED DISEASES
*SMOKING WILL KILL 10 LAKH PEOPLE ANNUALLY FROM 2010
*FOR EVERY CIGARETTE,8 BEEDIS ARE SOLD IN INDIA
*NEARLY 85% OF THE WORLD'S BEEDI TOBACCO IS GROWN IN INDIA.

So friends, the govt has taken a great step to look forward,no doubt about it.
What you people think about it??Whether it will get good result or not..please share your thoughts with all indiastudychannelians...

This is a good decision. The deaths & morbidity due to smoking will be reduced. Also passive smoking is creating a lots of problems. The decision should be implemented strictly. This will save a lots of lives & this will benefit the nation financially.

Mr. Kokil,

First, congrct you for such a good forum subject,

This is very great decision that govn taking care of human health, but in actual the decision is not being follow by the people in India even acting rule come.

Even on October 2nd, the public sector people like Policeman and others was smoking in Public Area.

There should be an act who will be allow to all people no special for any one.

But, government does not attenion on this thing and acts becos Who Care?

Every one is going on his own mind No Rule, No Tension this is the life of todays Human.

So, my opinion is, the things which is opposites of the human health should be totally 'BAN'.

That's all

Thank you for given chance to put my comment

Mahesh

Mr.Kokil, Govt can implement laws against smoking but the success of this is with the people . In every pack of cigaretts there is a caution to smokers in very small letters "smoking is injurious to health" inspite of which people smoke .

Good initiative from Government. We have seen in past thru Force only , we can bring control some of the improvements in the system. I believe that if Govt is vigilant on this rule, there will be reduction in smoking consumers in India

It is a good thing to ban smoking in public places because the fumes emanating from the smoke cannot be controlled by the smoker and it will inconveniencing his or her neighbours, I would have joined the group that would have allowed public smoking but since they cannot control the fumes is better they do it in an enclose place. To prevent those that are not smokers from the smoke. And is just that may people are addicted to smoking if that is not the case smoking itself is very dangerous to health as smoker are liable to die young.
