Hi friend , we can keep our city clean only if the people of our city think like us. without public cooperation we cannot achieve anything . so first to keep our city clean there should be a huge awareness to the public via various mass media and news papers. also the government should take major role in conducting awareness programs to public and also introduce new rules if necessary . only our thinking does not make our city clean .
Regards,Ranganathan Gold member of ISC

KEEPING OUR CITY CLEAN IS EVERY CITIZEN'S DUTY. FIRST WE SHOULD LOVE OUR COUNTRY. WE SING SONGS PRAISING BHARATH MATHA AND SO ON BUT WE NEVER THINK TWICE TO THROW DIRT ANYWHERE THAT SUITS US. STRICT LAW SHOULD BE ENFORCED LIKE THE ONE IN SINGAPORE WHO LITTER. THIS WAY FINE ALSO CAN BE COLECTED WHICH IN TURN CAN BE USED FOR DEV PURPOSES.IN A DMOCRATIC COUNTRY LIKE OURS PEOPLE TAKE FOR GRANTED EVERYTHING AND IF ONE TRIES TO EDUCATE ABOUT THIS ONE MAY NOT TAKE IT IN THE RIGHT SPIRIT. INFACT THEY FEEL WE ARE TOO INTERFERING. HENCE BETTER TO ENFORCE FINE.

Presently with the growing population in cities, and usage of huge quantity of water by them has created the greatest problems. Rather it has become a headache for the municipal corps.to manage them.
this problem can be solved only when the people realize the effective use of water and not waste it.

3)Use dustbins provided by corporation
4)Don't wash animals, vehicles in river water
5)Don't allow water to stagnate as it will provide a breeding place for mosquitoes

Cleanliness is equivalent to Godliness, its of no use if you keep your bed clean but floor dirty, your home clean but the road outside dirty, your road clean but the entire town dirty, so contribution on cleaning at any place means you are cleaning your own things, your own place.

Glad to see so many concerned ISC members about keeping our cities clean! I have seen many parents repeatedly telling their children to keep their rooms/home clean, but they themselves are blithely littering the streets. For example, after eating sev puri from a roadside vendor, they will coolly throw away the newspaper/paper plate in which it is served. They should educate the vendor on keeping a dustbin nearby for just customers. If possible, they can neatly fold up the newspaper and take it home and throw it in their own dustbin.

Contribution is required from all citizens so that Govt plans to keep a city clean can be implemented properly.Only Govt can't solve this problem if citizens don't follow the rules.
In western countries,people don't spit on roads,always use dust-bins

I was happy to see that members are still responding to this post event though it is an old one. It is good to know that ISC members continue to be concerned about our environement. I just hope that everyone is practising what they are preaching! Koushiknath made an excellent point in response to Veeravel's response; I had a look at the images he has posted and I think other members should too.

The citizens of India should develop cleanliness in our premises as well as other places.
As already suggested by the other members of ISC, I think one important thing is to stop urinating in outside places.
Chocolate wrapers, waste papers, plastics etc should not be thrown out but should be placed in correct places like dustbins.
Spitting in various places etc.

Cleanliness is no doubt very much necessary to maintain.Along with preventing various types of diseases due to unhygienic environment, cleaning also increases the beauty of the areas.
The sad part of all is,we all know how important it is to keep the places clean, but we ourselves forget to follow the steps in order to keep cleanliness.
Following measures can be taken in order to maintain cleanliness:
1.As suggested by everyone, urinating at public places should be checked strictly.
2.The domestic disposable stuff should not be thrown just anywhere, whereas proper dustbins, which are provided for societies should be properly utilized.
3.Stray animals also contribute a lot in making the surroundings dirty. They should be taken proper care of.
4.Residents of societies can come together and try to clean the areas nearby on holidays, chance by chance.
Thus,it's not a responsibility of any particular individual or only government to keep the cities and towns clean. It's a common responsibility which everyone should have a realization of.
When we can talk with so much of confidence and fight so much for our rights, why can't we come together and fulfill our duties also?

This is a nice topic to discuss even. Keeping a place clean is a difficult task because of the lack of responsibility ownership. If each and every citizen or even people all over the world realises the actual problem of global warming and cleanliness lack diseases they will atleast try to avoid making it ugly.
so there are many ways to keep a city clean but how we should follow each of it or atleast one of it.
when we go for a panic or in a travel we would usually throw the waste or the snacks cover on the road side through the window panes this is a very bad habit. i could even see persons throwing the waste in the busstand and the railway stations.
think every place as airport and do it fine this is the only solution
